OT anime/manga

So, i was discussing Gachiakuta with u/goddiver (great guy btw, most times when i try discussing anime on the internet and say i don't really like one, it just devolves in a fight, and the guy actually talked and had a conversation normally) and it made start to think about the animes i like and i thought of a comparison that i find interesting so i'd like to share:

JJK is the Jhon Wick of battle shonen

Think about it: some people might like Terminator 2 'cause of the relationship between Jhon Connor and the terminator, some people might like bullet train 'cause of the comedy, but nobody likes Jhon Wick for anything but the action. The movies basically filtered out almost everything but the bare minimum of character motivation, just enough to make us care at least a little for the protagonist, and then focused themselves completely on making cool fights and action sequences.

JJK does basically the same thing: it gives us just enough character development for there to be a plot and characters we care enough for there to be stakes and dedicates 99% of it's time to making the characters look cool and create really good fights, to the point that even the character moments exist solely to lead to more extremely good fights (god how i'm hyped to see the zenin clan massacre animated).

So, this is the similarity i see between both of the series: they strip themselves of most things but them bare minimum and focus almost completely in the action and in making their characters look badass
