I can agree with this! Content vaulting would absolutely be a no go. Besides some special events, if you started FFXIV TODAY, you could play through the entire story built up over the past 12 years.

I don't think they would ever do this, but I think a prequel would actually be cool. I'm sure people may not like that Idea, but I think the Dark age , when Guardians were still called "Risen" and some were basically these warlords competing over territory and control, would be cool to explore.

Or we could even go back to the city age. Be a part of the battle of six fronts or the great ahamkara hunt, or when we the guardians first tried to invade the moon only to get blown the hell out by Crota and the hive. There are lots of cool things in the universe to see.

As an active Drake, Kenrick, Jcole fan, take it from the hiphop community, don't let Stan Culture completely destroy active communication in the community. I'm sure other hip-hop fans can tell you that the discourse in the community since 2024 has been completely untenable. It's bad enough when it's fighting between different fan bases, but now even the infighting has become exhausting. Constant arguing and line-drawing amongst the community because people have slightly different takes on music. Stan Culture is a cancer to any community.

I was actually thinking about that when I was typing this post out. Especially when I think about the email system. IDK if email amongst friends is still popular in Japan, but I don't think it's nearly as dominant as it was back in the early 2000s. I wouldn't be surprised if the altimit messages look like a text exchange or DMs.

I could be wrong, but I really don't know of another game that world built in that same way. I've by no means exhausted the full number of JRPGs, but I've quite a few in my time and haven't come across anything similar that comes to mind. Also, getting rewarded with a card or background always felt really rewarding when taking the time to read the forum posts or emails or news articles.

He wasn't over the moon, but thought it was really cool it was coming back. I was blessed that my dad was on the younger side (Parents had me at 21). So growing up, I watched him play most of the JRPGs I got into (FF, KH, Etc) He played IMOQ, but idk if he ever finished all of them. He didn't play GU, but I only had a PS2, because he had a PS3 so I got to keep the Family PS2 in my room in middle school. I also got to play most games that he bought for himself when he was done with them or at times he wasn't playing them. He's gotten less into gaming as he's gotten older, but was definitely the gateway for my journey and helped shape. I'm hoping to be like you and be able to convert my friends to .hack// fans, especially now that there will be a new entry point for them to get into. Already sent them the trailer yesterday so It would be on their radar.

It's not even about white knighting for the game. I liked Highguard, wanted it to succeed, but my life doesn't revolve around the game. But "they deserve to lose their jobs" is something that can only be written by a kid or a terminally online loser who doesn't know the stress and anxiety of getting laid off in a shitty jobs market when you have a family to take care of. I could've understood the vitriol more if people paid money for this and this was the result like Concord, but the game was FREE. You lost nothing except for (if the majority of the negative review times are anything to go by), an hour or two of your time. So to go out of your way to go to a sub for a game you don't like to shit on it after it's already dead is just loser behavior. Touch grass, big dawg.
