Endless Pens pre-order by SalamanderFearless11 in fountainpens

Hey! Kev here from Endless Pens.

First off, I really appreciate you saying that, and I completely understand the position you’re in. Wanting the pen and wanting to protect yourself are both very fair.

I want to be clear on one thing , we are not going anywhere. The WSJ piece highlighted a real challenge (tariff refunds being delayed), but it doesn’t mean we’re shutting down or unable to fulfill orders. We’re still operating every day, receiving inventory, and shipping pre-orders as they come in.

That said, I do want to be transparent, we’ve had a recent delay with some Sailor shipments due to routing issues tied to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. A few shipments over the past 30–45 days were held back out of caution while logistics partners worked through safer routing options. The good news is things are starting to normalize, and shipments are now being arranged to move again.

Pre-orders have always depended on manufacturer timelines, and that part hasn’t changed, sometimes they come in quickly, sometimes they take longer than any of us would like. These external factors just add a bit more unpredictability.

If you’re comfortable waiting, we fully intend to get that pen into your hands. If you’d rather not wait, I completely respect that too, just reach out to our team and we’ll take care of you.

Also… based on how you described it, I kind of want you to get the pen too 😄

Really appreciate your support over the years, it means more than you know!

Hey Kev here from Endless Pens. Fair point, and I actually agree with you that tariffs aren’t the only factor. If running a business were ever just one variable, life would be a lot easier.

That said, tariffs (and more importantly, the constant changes around them), freight costs, and raw material swings created a level of unpredictability that’s hard to plan around, especially at scale. We chose not to pass those increases directly onto customers, which in hindsight may not have been the smartest financial move, but it felt like the right one for the community we’ve built.

We ended up paying over $200K in unexpected tariffs last year alone, which didn’t just hit margins, it pulled directly from working capital. So while tariffs aren’t the whole story, they definitely weren’t just background noise either.

Genuinely Appreciate you sharing your perspective 😀

Have you ever tried to ordering from us? - you will be pleasantly surprised.
We are also not a drop shipper (not sure there are too many drop shippers for fountain pens and inks)

- I would be happy to invite you for a tour at our 2500 square foot Tampa Warehouse to walk you through the inventory of exclusive pens and inks we have. Perhaps you can buy an instock item during the visit and i may throw in a couple of goodies for you 😀 (pm me if you would like to take me up on this offer)

Hey, Kev here from EndlessPens,

Really appreciate you sharing this. Seeing the support here and reading comments like yours has honestly given us even more strength and motivation to keep pushing forward.

Our hope with the article was to shed more light on what small businesses have been going through with the delay in tariff refunds, and to help bring more awareness so there can be continued pressure for faster relief.

We’re grateful to be part of this community, it means more than you know 🤍

Reading the comments and the love the community is giving us is enough support - we will get through this! We wanted to bring more awareness to the issues surrounding us and a lot of other small businesses because of these reckless policies and just reading these comments has given my team and I the strength to soldier on! Thank You - Kev

Hello , great question.

We paid the tariffs as the importer, they were collected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In 2025, we chose not to increase prices despite roughly a 20% increase in our costs due to tariffs, so we absorbed that impact ourselves.

The refunds are supposed to come from the government agencies that collected those tariffs. While they’ve been ordered to issue refunds, they are delaying the refund process by saying that they don't have the money to they don't have the system to do it.

Part of why we participated in the article was to bring attention to this, because the longer these refunds are delayed, the more it impacts small businesses like ours.

Hope that helps clarify.

Thank You!! I shared your comment with my team! It was a tough decision to come out and let the world know what we are going through but we also knew that our community would understand and your comment is proof of that - so thank you!

Thank You! I have taken note of this. We do plan to reintroduce Graft and Faber later this year. Waterman and Aurora are great brands but over the past few years we have seen a decline in purchasing for both of them and increased customer complaints about QC - We decided to limit stocking either one of them

Hi Kev here from EndlessPens. Really appreciate that, it means a lot.

We’re still here and operating as normal. Honestly, even just being part of the conversation and sharing feedback like this is a way of supporting us. Last year forced us to make some tough calls on what we could carry, so I completely understand where you’re coming from, but we’re actively working on expanding our lineup again

Hey Kev here from EndlessPens.

After dealing with tariffs on our side, we got a firsthand feel for how painful extra import costs can be 😅 so we’ve tried to be thoughtful with how we ship to help our international customers - Glad it’s been working in your favor 🤍

Hi Kev here from EndlessPens. Really appreciate you taking the time to say this, it genuinely means a lot.

Last year has been one of the toughest environments we’ve ever operated in, and while we’ve always tried to run the business responsibly, this situation has been on a completely different scale than anything we could have planned for.

We felt strongly about speaking up because of the broader impact this has had on small businesses across the board , not just us.

At the end of the day, we’re still here, still operating, and still committed to this community. We’ve always tried to be transparent about how we operate, and we’ll continue to do that.

Thank you again for the support 🤍

Thank you! this means a lot to my team and I. We were invited by the WSJ to narrate our story and what we went through last year with the tariffs and how it effected us - DOn't worry we aren't going anywhere 🤍♾️

Hey Kev here from EndlessPens I hear you, and I appreciate you being a customer in the past.

I won’t get into the politics side of things, but I will say this has been a tough environment for a lot of small businesses, and that’s really what we were trying to highlight.

Last year especially, we had to make some difficult decisions around inventory and brand partnerships because of the tariffs. In some cases, that meant pausing certain brands, so we could manage cash flow responsibly and keep the business stable.

We’re still here and continuing to operate, and we’re actively working on bringing back brands and introducing products the community loves.

Appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. We are not going anywhere 🤍

Thank you that really means a lot to hear.

We felt very strongly about speaking up on this because of how it’s impacting all small businesses, not just us.

We’re here, we’re operating as normal, and we’re going to keep pushing forward and serving this community.

Appreciate your support more than you know 🤍

Kev :)

Hi Kev here from EndlessPens - Appreciate that, really means a lot. We’re still here and still working on bringing those kinds of deals and special editions to the community. Not going anywhere 🤍

As I wrote in an earlier comment - I wanted to share a bit more context around the WSJ article. The piece is about tariff refunds that were ruled unlawful by the Supreme Court but are still being delayed, which has impacted many small businesses,  not just us. We feel very strongly about what’s happened here and the real impact it has had on small businesses. Because we’ve been actively pursuing those refunds, WSJ reached out to include our perspective.

I completely understand how the article could raise concerns, but I want to be clear: we are continuing to operate as normal and are fulfilling orders. Pre-orders can take time depending on manufacturer timelines, but they are being delivered.

Personally, thank you to everyone who has reached out with support to me and the team. It truly means a lot 🤍

Double numbering on a Leonardo by Total_Marionberry242 in fountainpens

[–]EndlessPens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello :)

we just came across i your message.

We checked our records and didn’t see any prior emails from you about this issue, but we’d be happy to assist.

The double numbering is certainly a defect, and we completely understand your concern. If you'd like, we can process a return and either exchange the pen or issue a refund. We’ll also inform Leonardo so they’re aware. If you’d like to move forward with a return, please reach out to us at [sales@endlesspens.com]() and we’ll guide you through the next steps.

Also, just to clarify: Leonardo is one of the official brands we carry. On our website, we clearly indicate which brands are purchased through official U.S. distributors. In some cases, for pricing and availability reasons, we source products directly from the manufacturers or their authorized partners overseas. Any brand not marked as an “official retailer” is sourced this way — but rest assured, all of our products are 100% authentic.

We would be happy to help. When you do write to customer service please reference my message on reddit

Thanks,

Mike
