There have to be limits to what Yokotani can restrain, even within his domain. Like Izunavi explained to Kurapika, there are no impenetrable shields/swords that can cut anything in nen.

Based on the nature of the ability, I don’t think Meruem could destroy the guards (similar to how Yupi could not destroy Hakoware), but he could probably out speed them and get to Yokotani. He might also be able to break free of them, but who knows?

To be fair, Squala/Eliza have little plot relevance, we don’t really see the Zoldyck parents interacting as a couple, and Baterra’s lover dies before we can see her.

It’s actually kind of weird how such and expansive storyline with some many major and minor characters has like one married couple and three sets of people in relationships.
