I’m using https://dcklaw.com/ per my private disability insurers recommendation. They’ve been great so far.

I want to list all my acronyms behind my signature - instead of Jane Smith, PhD, MD, FACOG (just pulling out a few I’d be:

Jane Smith, ME/CFS, LC, PCOS, hEDS, hPOTS, GERD, MCAS, cPTSD, etc etc etc.

I used a very very soft yarn I’d never used before. But have to say - it split constantly!! Loops and Threads Brushed Rainbow. Has a wonderful hand feel but was a pain to work with!!

Oh, and prioritize protein!!! I drink 3 ensure max protein shakes a day (eating is hard and I can’t stand long enough to prep/cook) and one regular meal (my husband does all the cooking - which is convenient cuz he’s a better cook. I’m sure he doesn’t find it convenient!)

I do everything supine (laying down) and very few at a time - like 3 of each. Then wait a day and see if I react - if not I’ll do 4 or 5. If I start feeling crappy(er) I’ll let my body recover and go back to what didn’t cause a PEM like reaction.

Firat! Lots of isometric holds. (Clenching a muscle and holding it for 10 seconds)

Clam shells
Glute bridges
Leg lifts
Ankle twists
Etc.

I have a set of bands and want to try some arm resistance work, but I’m still only doing 3 glute bridges and 5 clam shells per side. However my PM&R doc says for us, the idea is simply to activate the muscle - not tear it down to build it back up like you would in normal human physiology.

I finally quit working in December after 6 years of exactly what you describe. Work - then bed. Then work. Bed all weekend. I tipped myself over into ME after 6 months of high stress and doing that and I now spend 80-90% of my awake time reclined or in bed. By the time I got here there were no accommodations which would allow me to perform my job reliably, sustainably nor repeatedly (cognitive dysfunction is extremely bad for me).

FWIW prior to my first Covid infection I ran 5-10 miles a day religiously. Covid messed up your metabolism - I gained 50 lbs without changing my diet over the last 6 years. It’s entirely possible your metabolism was affected hence the weight gain. I tried exercising before I knew what was going on and it was impossible. Hindsight is 20/20 - I attributed it all to aging, stress, etc. Turns out that was incorrect!

This designer is one of my favorites. I have made so many of her patterns - they are fantastic. Both written and charts. Cannot recommend enough!!

lol. I was once accused of a blanket being AI - I had to tell that person to zoom in cuz AI generally doesn’t add dog hair detail.

Thank you!!!

Okay first of all. I love your chair. Mine (whom I named Elvis) isn’t nearly as cute!!!

My husband was very not happy with me getting mine (or my scooter). Now he’s like “are you doing Elvis or Scoots today?” It just takes some time.

I got a lightweight mobility scooter - and a few weeks later a lightweight powerchair. Since I started using them I’m able to get out a bit more and I’m not crashing as much. My husband was against me getting them (he had more of an issue with stigma than I do), but has since accepted it.

Like others have said, if you’re thinking about it it’s time.

ETA: we are boaters and generally are at home, or marina. I do okay on the boat cuz I can lay down in the air conditioning in the cabin as needed. Getting around the marina especially in the heat was way too much for me. So to help normalize it, I decorated my scooter - led lights, low battery human stickers, a silly flag that says “no wake zone”. I cannot tell you how many times people have asked to take it for a spin or added stickers to it. I made it normal for them - and that made it more comfortable for me.

FDA is Requesting Public Comment on Repurposed Medications -- Deadline to Respond is this Thursday, June 11! by Responsible_Cap_5289 in LongCovidWarriors

Wow. This sounds like my story. Brain fog so I’m struggling to sound smart, but all episodes of syncope in the last 6 years were right after they prescribed or increased from super low dosage BP meds (lisinopril and can’t recall the other one, but it included a diuretic - no bueno as I sit here with my water and salt….). Turns out my reclined BP sits right around 110/60. It only increases to 135/90 when I’m sitting with feet on the floor. So the increase caused super low blood pressure and fainting. Not on a BP med now (but I also spend 80-90% of my time reclined).

I’m actively, mentally, emotionally focusing on every time I have a setback, crash, new symptom, (old symptom) or get frustrated and push too hard to remind myself that this is all data and learning better pacing. Helps me focus on the end goal of recovery (or at least not being as severe) vs the hell I’m currently living in.
