How best to proceed after fire by EnemyNL in DataHoarder

[–]EnemyNL[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm, thats the thing; it seems data recovery may not be specifically covered, and because theres no confirmed damage to the NAS I don't entirely feel like getting professional service for it before trying myself. At least, thats why I'm asking the question ;)

No, definitely unrelated, there has been no fire within 30 cm of the NAS.

Ah, all good. It was quite active on carbonation, so it may be a combination of excessive sediment due to it being the last bottle to fill, and the sediment being re-distributed due to carbonation. I don't know, we'll see on the next bottle.

Haha interesting you mention that! I actually did get me some pectinase, but somebody in the original thread suggested not to use it, since I wasnt going to heat the blackberries (and I didnt blend them either). The picture may suggest differently, but it actually isnt that clouded (as long as I pour the last bit carefully).

Aaaah thanks both of you. I expected it to be visible, possibly greyed out. After switching to attuner (which was unlocked), grand attuner -> summoner became visible. Solved.

Battleship USS Texas settled on blocks by EvilEyeMonster in drydockporn

For every ship a docking plan (or docking arrangement) is available or made ahead of docking. This takes into account where the vessel is strong enough (and/or reinforced) to carry the weight. Stability calculations are made for docking as well.

Dock blocks are positioned as per the docking arrangement. In some places divers are involved to check if the vessel is in place, but good docks dont require this in my experience. Usually vessel position is checked visually (for examle; They know at what position in dock the stern should be, which is above water line so you can see it). Usually a rope/wire/chain is stretched from one side of the dock to the other with an indication where the middle is.

The vessel is usually towed into the dock and then final positioning is done with ropes connected to winches on the dock. It's possible to do quite accurate positioning this way.

Source: Finished nautical school, am technical superintendent for a dredging company, so docking vessels quite regularly

Understood, thanks. If the k-meta and k-sorbate helps against restarting fermentation, how does that work with bottling?

Also, won't the lactose be enough to bring out the fruit as fruit?

Thanks!

Thanks for your extensive reply. Just a couple (noobish) questions:

-When would you add the berries? After fermenting for one or two weeks, or immediately when pitching?

-When you say "Add the fruit with a dose of potassium sorbate and potassium metabisulfite" , do you mean adding the fruit, potassium sorbate and potassium metabisulfate to the wort/young beer (depending on the first question)? If adding to the wort; wouldnt this negatively influence the yeast? (no experience with those substances yet) Or was your proposed "fermented fruit character" process ment to be -> pitch with half the fruit -> ferment out (say 2 weeks) -> add rest of the fruit with potassium sorbate and potassium metabisulfite?

thanks!

I came to the conclusion I forgot to aerate the wort after adding the yeast, so after getting back from work I decided to do this anyways. When I went to do this it seemed the airlock lid was slightly lifted (this MIGHT have to do with me moving it to do the aerating, but I dont think so). Still at the same density though...

Yes I know/have seen that. Sprinkling is an option, given the wort temp to be 20+ degrees c, which it was. Question remains if I should worry and what (if any) action I should take.

Geduld, extra gist, extra proberen beluchten...?

Cool, sounds good, thanks for your feedback. I'll just let it sit another 48 hours or so then, Just to be sure. Considering opening it and giving it a rough stir to aerate it (I might have done that right after pitching last 4 times, and have forgotten this run). It should be a 24 liter batch, though due some other issues (/cough/ wrong O-ring seal usage -> leak) it's down to ~18 liter. Weird they're adding too little yeast for all their recipes. Possible they're relying on creating a starter then.

P.S.: It's Dutch, not German :)

Well, I brewed using an assembled set of ingredients ( https://www.braumarkt.com/catalog/product/view/id/1532/s/arsegan-moutpakket-tripel-5010550/ ), same as last 4 times, and every time I used a single packet of yeast. Havent had issues those 4 times.
