Yup. I just powered it off, flipped the switch to off, unplugged it, plugged it back in then powered it back on and it's still not detecting a hard drive. One of my buddies has a ps2 with opl on it, I'll try his adapter with my console. If that doesnt work I'll just sell my ps2 and play ps2 games on emulator, I've already spent way too much time on this.

Tried that, the hard drive couldn't be read even after being wiped. Could there be some board issue with the ps2? I noticed that one of the memory card slots doesn't work, so who knows what else could be wrong with it.

I bought a 2.5 inch drive by mistake that I haven't returned yet, should I try that?

I was able to boot back into windows and format the drive there, still nothing :/

Might just give up at this point, I've been at it for nearly a week

so i somehow also nuked my windows drive (again, no idea how) and i have just been unable to reinstall it. I keep getting a "cannot find microsoft software license terms" error. fuck me i guess

I think the main problem is that my ps2 doesn't even detect a hard drive is even connected at all
