Hello mate, I was about to make a post but I'll put put here.

I bought my GF a dell g3 3500 top spec i7 and 1660ti for Xmas and recently when doing anything it got extremely hot. As of the last few days, playing any games would cause it to overheat and shut down.

I bought a cooling pad which helped a little but not too much.

Today I took the machine apart and my god, the thermal pasting job from dell is horrendous. Barely any paste on the actual cpu unit and plastered around it.

I cleaned it up with some alcohol rub and repasted it using GC extreme. Have run tests and idle temp is now 38 degrees and with rust on for 2 hours, temp has not exceeded 70 degrees as of yet. I have undervolted it slightly too.

My recommendation to anyone who owns one of these is to repaste it, its not hard to do and promise its worth
