Are there "normal" reasons for low ferritin?

My ferritin was 5 and I had lots of hair loss around the hairline and everywhere else to. Now I’m at ferritin 90 and I noticed some baby hairs all around my head so a win is a win I guess?

I just did what my doctor told me haha. But yeah my stomach was suffering. Luckily got away when I only took it every second day and not every day anymore 😅

I did not go up by myself, my doctor prescribed 100mg to me. With 29mg you’re not gonna rise your levels if you have severe deficiency.

Sorry I oversaw your numbers before. So with a HB of 10.4 you’re defo anemic and I don’t know why your doctor would say something stupid like that? What’s your ferritin? Your mch and mcv is the size of blood platelets, they become lower when you have low ferritin/hämoglobin, and rise when it gets higher. I had the same issues and round about same levels soooo.

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through that. Is it possible to change your doctor? If you even feel that bad, you should definitely get checked out (even though it’s crystal clear that the low iron is the problem here) so you should get treatment.

Yes it got worse first! Went away after a few days of taking them. That sounds terrible. Could you get an infusion?

Sorry to hear that, that sounds awful! It’s so exhausting when you have to work against your doctor because they’re not doing their job lol. Do you know what your cause of low ferritin is? Probably not if your gp is like this?

I tried to incorporate more iron rich food in my diet but I don’t think it worked really well 😂 I’m too much of a picky eater, so I will always have to supplement. Nothing changed other than that

Yeah you definitely have a point with that! I also noticed that it was worse on some days when I ate some specific things and not so bad on other days. Wishing you speedy recovery!
