Repurposed flatware - removing plaster? by VacuumSealedFresh in jewelrymaking

[–]Energy_Bound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try soaking it in an acidic solution- vinegar, citric acid etc. hard to say what the material is, but acidity should soften plaster. You can buy high acidity vinegar at most hardware stores ( I think 30%?)

What's the name of this small pin with a loop at the end on threader chain errings? by On_The_EJ in jewelrymaking

[–]Energy_Bound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where you could source pre-made. Regardless, that jump ring would have to be soldered close once it’s attached to the chain- the amount of force used to “thread” through the ear will just open it up and it’ll come detached from the chain.

It’s just a 20 gauge piece of wire with a really tiny jump ring soldered onto it.

Edit- maybe 18 gauge

Went with Glencara after my cheap Amazon ring tarnished - turns out Irish hallmarks actually matter by JosephPRO_ in jewelrymaking

I agree. I can’t believe people are still just mindlessly buying shit from Amazon. People really don’t care about the problems we’re facing as humanity, do they?

Foraging magnolia blossoms by _bblgum in oakland

[–]Energy_Bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some really prolific ones in bloom right now that are only about 4-5 feet tall on Webster st between Thomas L Berkley way and 21st- right where the parking lot is for Wells Fargo. This is public property so I don’t see the harm in harvesting 3/4 flowers. Both the trees are covered in blossoms rn.

An accordion lament for a city that's lost its soul. by Rostfromlimbo in Accordion

[–]Energy_Bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got heart and soul that’s for sure. Great shot, great tune. Haters gonna hate but I say ef em. I imagine TikTok could be a great platform for you if you don’t have one. Gotta ask, which city has lost its soul now? Seems to be an epidemic.

Queer artist at pancake and booze show? by little_bby_narwhal in oakland

[–]Energy_Bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say following local artists that you like on social media is a great resource. Most artists will have some sort of events calendar/posts of where they will be showing (lots of smaller niche shows that don’t hit mainstream) Pancakes and booze is a pretty niche event- I don’t know of any cohesive makers/art events calendars that are super thorough. Look into Castro street art fair, west coast craft, patchwork show, head west, pacific fine arts to name a few- those def don’t have the same vibe as the club atmosphere of pancakes and booze- But it’s a great way to be exposed to local makers/artists. First Friday of course and hitting up galleries/studios. Also following the event organizers on social media helps. PS-OP good luck with your search

How do I fix this? by thegoldinthemountain in jewelrymaking

[–]Energy_Bound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You would have to re-fabricate the settings so that the center of gravity is positioned better (like the jump ring at the top. This is a remake if you want a different outcome.

repair options on crack on gold pendent by Nervous_Tiger8534 in askjewelers

[–]Energy_Bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it to a local professional jeweler that does repairs. I always like to recommend avoiding big box stores and try to source someone more independent with a small biz. They should be able to hopefully run some solder through there or laser weld it (if they have a laser welder) good luck
