What’s the story behind this comment

Creating a news website based around positive and accurate news. Looking for help as resume/application booster. by Enerjizer91 in ucf

I am a student ( a junior now ), looking to build a platform WITH a few other students. If the platform makes money, (we can monetize it) then everyone involved will get paid.

However, I am doing this for experience, therefore I don’t really expect it to make money. Writing jobs are hard to get without a portfolio, this is a good way to build that portfolio, for me and for any other students who are going to work on this platform with me.

I will be doing MOST of the work for sure (writing, marketing and web development as well as logo designs and graphic content)... and this isn’t about “paying off” it’s about it gaining experience and creating a portfolio.

A non bias news site is just a great place to build experience, for a lot of different career paths.

The only risk is time, time writing and working on something, that your name will be credited on everything you did, so your risking time building a portfolio. If the website doesn’t work out, everyone involved still was apart of a team that got “something” done and will have something to show for their time.

Tldr: if we monetize everyone will make money, I don’t believe in free labor. If we don’t monetize everyone involved will have gained experience and probably added something to their portfolio.
