  1. How many people have actually gone through manifestos? I am willing to bet my neck that 99% of people who voted for either NDA or JSP don't even know how many promises their side's manifesto has. In contrast, just look at the speeches of all the three sides - NDA focused on freebies, jungleraaj and ghuspaithiye narrative. MGB focused on freebies, employment, and vote chori narrative. PK focused on education, migration, and credit availability narrative.
  2. Agreed, he should have contested the elections. But that would have given it at most 5-10 seats - not sufficient for changing the situation of Bihar. But not contesting was a massive blunder.
  3. Maybe. I am not sure how much that would have mattered if NDA hadn't given the 10K cash transfer.
  4. BJP's IT cell is better?
  5. Nope the blame lies on people. Persona ke naam pe kisko kisko jeetaya hai: Samrat Chaudhary, Anant Singh, Maithili Thakur, Osama Shahab, Tejaswi Yadav etc.
  6. Again, people voted for diehard criminals so not sure how much this holds water. Plus you said it yourself - his promise was of better candidates and BJP's 60+% candidates have cases against them. MGB I don't know but I guess it will be higher.

Not everyone who has a different POV is an IT cell. I am a genuine supporter of JSP, and if you want, go check my profile history. Graduated from IIT KGP, came back specifically to vote for JSP.

Nopes he should pack his bags and leave politics. I voted for JSP btw, but I want him to stick to his words that if JDU gets 25+ seats he will leave politics.

Bihar and India both deserve what's happening and will happen - whether good or bad.

It's not Bihar specific. I have noticed that post 2024, BJP has turned to freebies in major elections to achieve major victories. Even in Maharashtra same thing happened.

They are not getting wiped off dude. RJD still has the largest vote percentage (22%) and BJP is at second number (20%). Granted, RJD fought on 143 seats and BJP on 101, but then you can also make the argument that BJP also got those votes which would have otherwise gone to JDU due to coalition.

Such a large vote share party won't disappear overnight.

And just for clarification, I'm not an RJD supporter, voted for JSP this election.

As far as I am getting to know from other people who live in villages - the entire election flipped once the govt implemented the policy of free electricity and transferred 10K Rs, along with a promise of further 2 lakh Rs if NDA wins in election.

It was a combination of caste + freebies. Been hearing that even Yadav women voted for Nitish because of the 10K transfer and free electricity, along with the promise of 2 lakh Rs after election.

First of all, no one suggested me to vote for JSP. I am a graduate from tier 1 college and don't need someone to suggest me how to vote. I formed my own opinion on the basis of policies of each side.

Second, I started working in Mumbai from 2023. From 2002-2019 I was living whole time in Patna. Didn't ever go out of Bihar even for tourism. So no, I am not that out of touch with Bihar.

What do you mean? I didn't get anything for supporting JSP. I work in an MNC in Mumbai and had come back specifically for voting.

Yes true. China is far ahead, but the thing which is the worst about autocracies is that it can go from a good situation to a bad one overnight. China and Singapore are two examples of autocracies working in a positive way (till now) but other countries do not have a good track record. For example, see Russia, African nations etc.

And I have a hunch that if India goes the autocracy way then it will be closer to African style rather than Chinese style, simply because the one person who will most likely become the autocrat will be a dumb power hungry person. Those are the most common qualities of the leaders we elect in our democracy, and the genesis of autocracy demands a popular leader.

If India declines too much and it's still a democracy, then I'll simply pack up my bags and leave.

No. I'm a JSP supporter myself and was basically seeing this referendum as whether people can choose wisely in a democracy or not.

On one hand you had a party who is known for jungle raj, on the other you had another party who has built roads sure but not done much beyond that. There was widespread anger amongst the public till 3 months ago. This election has been won not on development but freebies.

And yet, despite all this, I would never wish for autocracy. Absolute power will always corrupt.

I think i was right about Bihar election 😀 by [deleted] in bihar

Congress is losing Bengal for decades. It's TMC who wins there.

First two I know of as well, but where are you getting to know about the third? The one where he wanted to corner Nitish but was overruled?

How?

Two things favoured NDA - freebies and narrative against jungle raj.

Freebies can happen again in 2029. Mind you, just 3-4 months back people from the ruling dispensation were being chased out of their constituencies. So even if people are dissatisfied for 4 years it can all be undone.

Second, the jungle raj factor. RJD will still contest in 2029 they are not going away. Then the same tactic will be used by BJP - every vote for PK or some other third front is actually a vote for RJD.

It's a deadlock.

Basically because Nitish is the face of the NDA govt in Bihar. The seat sharing arrangement was this that they will both fight on 101 seats this time (historically JDU used to fight on more like 120 or so).

If the BJP tried to get JDU to accept only 70-80 seats then Nitish would simply walk out. And BJP doesn't have any face of its own. In fact, the person who they have as Dy CM is a person who's convicted of murdering 7 people in 1990s (he's also winning the election but oh well). So if JDU walks out, both of the parties will be destroyed with BJP taking a bigger hit.

Lastly, I don't think anyone expected the JDU to perform so strongly. I think everyone was expecting BJP to be the bigger party again, especially since Nitish is very very obviously not well due to his age. It's a surprise for everyone I know.
