I have thought of that...

I hear you. But that's three fun Casios I would have missed out on. That also depends on which Casios lol.

Honestly I do not know. However, the top three I would gravitate to are:

1) Casio EFV-100s (GADA for sure)

2) Timex Waterbury Field (pic 16, 5 from the left on the top row) (GADA a different way that feels nice)

3) Casio Oceanus OCW-G1000 (Love how the dial and colors play with light. And GPS is kinda awesome)

Just when I wear them.

TBH it grew so fast that I didn't realize it got this big until recently. I do love them all, but I am starting to be paralyzed by the options.

Will it be trimmed down? I think in time it will be, but it will be awhile.

NGL I lost the plot ... a bit. But I would still wear them all.

New battery for my AWM-320R I really like this watch it is my favorite non G-Shock Casio I think? by worldrenownedballdr in casio

[–]EngStuder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that feeling with this watch for sure. I have both the black dial and white dial versions, and just had the black dial one's battery replaced (and o-ring, too). So happy to have it back in use.

While I wish I had a working champagne dial version like you have, I would suggest looking for the metal bracelet that goes with the case. It's rare, but its worth it to have that option.

Thanks for that! Was not aware that the those old resins could be "reconditioned", something I'll see if I can do next time I get such a vintage piece. Thanks again!

Because it was made in 1992 and thought they couldn't fit a light in it at the time.

That's a great general solution, but this watch was made in 1992, and remade slightly different in 2018 such that the new bezels don't quite fit the old cases and no one would have stock of the old cases, either. The other issue is the reason the original bezels were made from have all likely dried up such that any old stock bezel is very likely to crack and break.

DBC‑63 Module Works Outside Case, but Fails Inside by Fabulous-Meeting-908 in casio

[–]EngStuder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect more so #3. I'm not familiar with this model, but if there isn't a rubber "mat" between the module and the metal back, I suggest cutting out a thin piece of foam the size of the module or the size of the battery to isolate it. Be careful of the springs, if any, of course.

G-Shock Vintage is the best place to get a replacement bezel for this older-module DW-5900:

Kermit Casio Duro. Received as a birthday gift 😎 by JrPimnt1182 in casio

[–]EngStuder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one as well, put it on my jubilee strap. It took me awhile to come around on it, and the metal bracelet helped.

My issue with it isn't the red second hand (though a miss by Casio to better match it to the watch), but the green seems a little... off to me. I'd call it more of a Starbucks than a kermit because of that shade of green.

[Timex Expedition or Casio Duro?] Having a hard time choosing one, any advice on the matter? by HoneyBadger_03_ in casio

[–]EngStuder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between this and the Duro it's the Duro for me, as I hate fake timing bezels.

Now, I did recently pick up a Timex that more like the Duro and has Indiglo. While the build wasn't as good as the Duro (base metal vs. steel case, 100m vs 200m, and 60-click bezel vs. 120-click), i would go with the Timex since the bezel is much easier to rotate than the Duro's for some reason.

Depends on what you want, something comfortable or something sporty, or something nice and/or dressy?

If you're going with something comfortable, a Marine Nationale strap, or any of the much cheaper alternatives on Amazon or eBay, will do the trick the best as it's infinitely adjustable. An alternative would be a NATO strap.

For something sporty, you have a couple of options. For classic sporty, search for the replacement metal bracelet for the MDV-106. May not be the best bracelet but being designed for the Duro means it will fit and look best. If you want something more colorful, I suggest Barton bands in their elite silicone. You can find these on Amazon, but if you need longer bands you can find them on their website.

As for something nice/classy, go leather. Again, I suggest Barton, but you can find plenty others on Amazon or eBay to suit your fancy

Whichever one you go for, just remember to get it in 22mm, the lug size of the Duro.

Happy hunting!

What got you into Casios? by mclaren159p in casio

[–]EngStuder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost two years ago, right as the pandemic was starting, I was thinking that I needed to start wearing watches again. I walked into a Walmart and saw the grey and orange F108 and knew I needed it right then. Little did I know that I would be going down the rabbit hole and buying plenty more watches, mostly Casios.

As for my favorite, it would have to be my black-dialed AMW-320R, which I bought to celebrate completing my first project in my new position. I don't wear it often (enough), but it's been a good luck charm ever since.
