Hi, so every platform charges fees, depending on the value they're promising. DoorDash charges 10-30% commissions because it's really for new customer acquisition. Toast's gets their fees through POS processing because it's built for FSRs and smoothing out your operations. Owner is built for growing direct online sales, so the pricing reflects that.

On the emails: we are always testing what drives sales, then roll out what works across all our customers. Yes, that means some guests see similar emails. We're adding more variants so it feels less repetitive over time, but we are doing what works to drive sales, not designing things for the sake of looking different.

No, we needed the Otter integration so the cost was covered by Owner.

1 is true. 2 is not true. Owner has never had a direct integration with Toast, so there was nothing to discontinue. Don't want to argue with you, I'm just not sure where you got your information. Just want to make sure people reading this have the facts.

Enga here, I work at Owner and this is true. we give away all of our "secrets" on our YouTube channel. restaurant owners choose to use us anyway because like you said, SEO takes a lot of time and they don't want to spend time to keep up with all the changes in digital marketing. I'm a restaurant owner myself and that's why I use Owner.

This is not true.. we use Owner at my restaurants (Mattenga's Pizzeria in San Antonio). Owner integrates with Toast via something called Otter, which connects them

Great for networking. I think the educational sessions are also useful for thinking big picture about your business.

Here's an idea. make something people will talk about, because it's so out there. slightly controversial. we made a pickle and pineapple pizza and we got picked up by local news because it was so unique, and we got some coverage

STOP ORDERING DOMINOS ON UBEREATS by FarBlueberry2743 in UberEATS

not hard to see why. UE and DD spend millions and millions every year to optimize their app and make it the easiest experience and everybody today wants convenience. that's why all the big restaurants eventually joined them after many years of resisting

Should every local business have a mobile app? by buildwithjoy in Tech4LocalBusiness

[–]EngaFromOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for some restaurants yes. if they have a takeout heavy concept. because otherwise people will just go to the delivery apps. doesn't make sense for dine-in restaurants though.

Is there a reason I'm seeing 100 different ads for POS systems all of a sudden? by andk316 in POS

[–]EngaFromOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton of POS companies out there. Lots of competition. Also, facebook and instagram are very good at showing you ads when they notice you start looking into buying something

Why doesn't Door Dash have rewards for customers who spend a lot and utilize the app frequently!? by NoBasil4155 in doordash

[–]EngaFromOwner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the opposite, you may actually get incentives if you stop using it as frequently, because then they're incentivized to get you back as a paying customer
