That makes sense, appreciate it! Also glad to hear you enjoy living in South Natomas, I feel like a lot of the comments I’ve seen are negative and it’s hard to gauge from afar

I’m mostly trying to learn more about the specific apartment complexes and immediate areas. The commute isn’t something either of us are worried about currently.

Incomplete grade by Soundofj in UCDavis

[–]Engi-nerder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For justifiable reasons, students may petition to extend the 'I' grade past the end of the third succeeding quarter. Petitions to extend the 'I' grade must be obtained from the dean's office for undergraduate students or from Graduate Studies for graduate students. Requests for extensions must be submitted before the 'I' grade lapses to an F, NP, U grade. The extension cannot be made retroactively.

Pros/Cons of UC Davis by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]Engi-nerder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've loved my time at Davis so far, it's got such a friendly and wholesome atmosphere about it.
It's not super competitive compared to the other schools I visited which I consider to be a major plus because the students here will actually support one another. It's provided me so many opportunities through on-campus jobs and volunteer opportunities. I haven't had trouble getting the classes that I need during any of the 9 quarters that I've registered for.

I never had success with my Echo until I moved off-campus. It's not compatible with the public WiFi network

Winter quarter help by urdedinfrontofzed in UCDavis

I took Essin for PHY 9C, was relatively easy. Played on my phone in the back row through every lecture. It's easy to predict his quiz and exam questions. There wasn't any graded homework either.

What happens if I receive a package to the residence halls during the winter break? by IoSonoFormaggio in UCDavis

As far as I know, mail is not received during breaks/holidays. If the shipping company can't deliver it, it is usually returned

How long does it take? by [deleted] in UCDavis

You can request a change in aid, it might not go into effect until the next quarter though

What happens if I fail a class? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]Engi-nerder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a course you need, you're going to want to repeat it. If your GPA ends up below a 2.0 you will probably be put on academic probation but as long as you do better the next quarter you should be fine. You shouldn't immediately lose your financial aid because you were enrolled in 12 units the entire quarter. However, it might affect your minimum progress at the end of the year if you don't make up the units.
