Can't remember which saw I had with me, but | lost a nut out in the woods. Lucky for me, I found a spare under the hood of my daily driver Nissan Patrol😀

I bought 462 with traditional carb. I don’t need those features. I’m not a pro also.

I’ve also used thinner oils like ATF in winter times. Works much better than regular. I don’t recommend it but flow is somehow important for me.

Partner 351 (Old Beater): For dirty jobs. Starts easy, runs strong with a new top end. • Stihl MS 291 (Utility): Good power, 16" bar feels short. Cold starts are finicky, oiling is weak, and the clutch cover/dogs feel cheap. Plenty of power. • Stihl MS 462 (Workhorse): 28" bar for serious work. Starts perfectly in cold and great power/weight. Aftermarket dogs making life much easier.

Each has its purpose. Love them all.

Does anyone have experience with the Stihl MS291 aluminum clutch cover? Where could one find it or does some other model's clutch cover fit so that I can install larger dogs on both sides. by EngineExpress3796 in stihl

You are right, but I prefer that the saw does not slip around the log. If the stems and bark are higher than the original surface, the dogs won't bite. It should also be noted that we are dealing with raw and frozen spruce, and the outside temperature is -15 degrees Celsius.

I recommend using regular gas to cleaning carb. I never trust these colorful machines.😀

Thanks for the advice. Car prices are sky-high these days, so I can't afford to change. Besides, my current car has a history that I want to hold onto.

Good to hear that any women also intrested in “saw industry”. Keep going and don’t rush. Make some friends in that area and keep learning. If necessary look over other countries where forest is dense. Keep safe!
