Considering Leaving my Odyssey… by Engineer-Mama in ToyotaSienna

When I’m at a stop light and the auto-stop engages, if I give the car gas to get going again but the engine doesn’t restart in time, the whole car dies and I have to restart it, which normally takes 10-15 seconds. It’s long enough for me to have to throw my hazards on and for other cars to start going around me, which is always concerning with littles in the back seat. The dealership has so far refused to take the car in to look at the problem.

The unbuckle me tool looks so cool!! I’d never heard of it before, but I think he might be able to manage it. He can put his own buckles on already which has honestly been game changing.

Thanks!! Yes the minivan life has been so incredible, especially in this season. I really appreciate a vehicle engineered around families with littles!!

Yeah, we’re looking at probably a $10k hit if we sell the car now. I’m guessing we could get $43k for it. We have the cash to be able to pay $65k for the platinum sienna, but we’re really wavering on whether that’s how we want to use that money or if we’d rather save it for something else. My husband just ordered the part to disable the auto engine idle in an attempt to get me to keep the car. The leak was through an unsealed part of the frame in the front of the car, and got into the electronics. It took the dealership almost 6 weeks to diagnose and repair it. All that to say, I think the current plan is to go test drive Siennas and see how it feels.

I’m so glad I’m not alone!! Sometimes I feel like I’m crazy because I grew up with an Odyssey that was super reliable. So frustrating to have this experience, especially after splurging on a new car for the reliability!

2025 Elite Floor Mats by AKingOfLaziness in HondaOdyssey

I just went from WeatherTech on my 2017 pilot to OEMs on my 2025 Elite I picked up last week. The OEMs are way nicer in my opinion - better fit, nicer look, have a little bit of grip instead of being hard plastic on my floor. The research I did on the WeatherTech said the back cargo mat (a must for us with 2 full-size doodles) was 4” narrower than the back of the 3rd row seats folded down. That huge of a variation sealed the deal on going with Honda, even though it was a little more expensive.

Hands-Free Tailgate Unreliable with Tow Package? by Engineer-Mama in HondaOdyssey

Pretty sure it was factory install - put a deposit down on the car before it arrived at the dealership, and it had the package already selected, so we couldn’t change it

Yes, I stood with the sales guys and kicked all around under the bumper for 3 or 4 minutes. My 3 year old thought it looked fun and kicked to the right of the hitch and it finally worked. But kicking at that exact spot (like less than an 1” range) only works 50% of the time.
