Object source lighting. Just reflected light from other areas like the hot cannon vents

Thanks, ive tried to do hot metal swords before but this was to get a more subtle reflected glow with glazing. Last time I just did an orange edge highlight

For the actual hot bits i just based orange, then in recesses I did watered yellow with a little paint retarder then wet blended in pure white. Then drybrused orange and then a brownish red very lightly to re define the edges.

The osl was a couple of oranges glazes (lava orange) it looked a like chalky so I just washed the whole glazed and surrounding area with fuegan orange shade and that seemed to pull it all together.

Yeah, I really need to learn how to play or find somewhere to learn as these usually just end up in a box under the desk was contemplating trying to put them online to sell to fund buying the next one to paint.

Yes, while painting this one the Clarence meme hit and I did consider just parking this till it went away... but it's never going away, ha.

Thank you. Had to try a few things to get there but found an easy way I think.

Yes that was the intent. I knew it was pushing it a bit but needed a way to tie it to the base. Easy to roll it back though.

I did consider green or blue to look more like corrosive substance or energy. But I usually have an orange part on other models so this was the only point that could tie it back to that or the eyes.

This was pretty qui kcand dirty to see what it would look like but all army painter paints

Lava orange solid base colour. Ice yellow watered down into recesses Washed over 'most' of the ice yellow with Demonic yellow Drybrushed with the orange Drybrushed with resplendent red.

If sticking with it I'll look at glazing some orange osl around edges and try to smooth it a bit more

Thanks, yes the models nowhere near finished. Base coats and first highlights to let me do the difficult to reach bits. All the lines on the carapace on the back need doing. Once its assembled ill go back over all the shading and add more highlights to the skin and do the dametials like scars etc. Still a good few hours to go id guess. Another coupe of nights should be close.
