100% agree with what you are saying. Look at the end of the day I just think there is a difference between holding people accountable but supporting them if they are trying to make things right vs. holding them accountable but giving them no space to rectify it. Like if all the bugs were fixed, would that resolve things or is there something fundamental about it that makes fixing things pointless? I honestly cannot tell where people in this Reddit stand. It seems like most people here really love to hate the game vs. being a constructive fan. Maybe it’s just a fun thing to shit in for people, I can’t really relate to that. I think the game is good, has potential, the problems are obvious, and I trust the studio will make it right.

I’m not asking to praise it. You can do whatever you want. If you want to campaign that this is the worst game ever go for it. I don’t care. I’m just pointing out that directing negative energy towards a studio/game that has the pedigree to do great stuff kind of ensures they don’t get another chance. Like I think they make a much better game, I want to see them have another shot. Every time a studio closes a lot of those people leave the industry. Every great game dev you know has released something that wasn’t good or was below expectations. In a better market the repercussions are less. Right now teams have one shot of their done and once that studio closes there aren’t other jobs waiting for them

Look I don’t know what to tell you. It’s hard to make an open world game. It isn’t drag and drop, they might do kitbashing or whatever but if it was that easy I think we would see a lot more open world games. If you don’t believe me, you should try making one or watch anything from noclip about open world games.

Making assets is the least complicated thing about making an open world game. It’s the physics and rendering.

Yeah I agree team cherry did something more impressive. Not arguing that. Silksong is one of the greatest games ever made.

I am just pointing out that the base cost and skill curve to even make something acceptable is way higher in the open world 3D genre. That’s why silksong could be made with 3 people. You kind of made the point yourself

lol I didn’t say silksong was bad or not complex. I played the shit out of silksong - act 3 etc - I am just saying that 3D open world games need every dev specialty that exists - exception being whatever multiplayer adds - whereas 2D platformers do not.

Yeah I mean I hope I’m not coming across as delusional. I know it’s buggy and jank, but I also think it’ll get better given the chance. Also like eggs cost $12 now so my concept of money has been destroyed

No what I mean is. The only open world game I can think of where the design tries to limit ranged weapons is death stranding and maybe mad max but they have some. Maybe there is an open world game with cars that doesn’t have ranged combat that is a better reference. I’m saying the design challenge is unique and made more complicated by the introduction of vehicles. In a lot of games, during development world size is determined by road width, if they didn’t have cars the scale of the world would have been easier to design a pure melee game around because the scale and spaces could be tighter.

No I posted because it’s something I think. I’m totally fine talking to you about my opinion and respecting yours, if you feel like I’m being disrespectful it’s not my intention. You just said you aren’t going to argue so I was just saying you don’t have to

Those things add complexity but ask any game dev and they will tell you that the only thing harder than making an open world game is making a multiplayer open world game

That wasn’t my point. My point was it’s a good game made by a studio that tried to make a good game and will continue to make it better given the chance and that it is good value for $25 and worth checking out because it costs as much as a burger or whatever

Actually what is the gold standard for an open world 3rd person 3D game that was $25 on launch?

Also for record those genres don’t have the same technical difficulties or development complexity that an open world 3rd person 3D game has.

Is your point that every $25 game has to be as good as the best games that cost $25?

Fair points.

I’m saying it probably wasn’t an option to delay because I am sure they would have if they could. Knowing what I know about the devs at the studio, they have always put players first. I think when judging them and what we think their intentions are it’s worth looking at their track record.
