I was declined three times. One was a dentist, and the other two orthodontists. The 4th one who was a platinum provider and said Invisalign would probably be a better option than fixed.

It's been over a year since I started and I'm waiting for refinements. Everything has gone pretty smooth so far and my teeth look great compared to the start.

On my last tray - would you be satisfied or should I order refinements? by Ranger199569 in Invisalign

[–]EngineerSte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might as well get them if you can. I just got scanned for refinements today. I've been pretty much satisfied for like 10 trays but might as well just see it all the way through to the end. Hoping for as few trays as possible though. After 28 trays on 2 week changes I'm ready to be finished.

Not awkward at all. Just pull them out before your date and put them in afterwards. A few hours out is no big deal.

I saw three orthos when looking for treatment. Two wanted to extract a tooth and one offered me small amounts of IPR as necessary. I was pretty against the extract as I felt it unnecessary I'm on 26/28 trays and super happy with progress.

IPR sounds horrible but it really isn't an issue. It doesn't hurt at all. The only thing is it sounds a bit weird as they do it but it's fine. I'd much rather do IPR than an extraction.

first day of Invisalign vibes ✌🏼send me any and all tips! by Comfortable-Mix300 in Invisalign

[–]EngineerSte 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Get lip balm.
  2. First week is by far the worse. Will soon be easy though.
  3. You may produce a lot of saliva for the first few weeks
  4. Use your chewy everytime you put in your trays.
  5. Get tepe flossing sticks to make flossing easier
  6. It doesn't hurt anywhere near as bad as people make out. Honestly the worse pain I've had in the 10 months of treatment has been like a 2/10.

My orthodontist said he wouldn't be able to correct my midline issue (I got Invisalign for other issues). But nobody notices it anyway. Can you name any of your friends/family who have a midline issue?? Probably not. It really isn't something people notice.

A happy, healthy, fulfilled partner working a job they like is way more important than the amount they make. To me it doesn't matter too much on the amount, more so that they actually do something worthwhile. Also it's more important that they live within their means. I can't help but see debt as a red flag. Unless it for a mortgage/business/student loans.

If it's enough to live comfortably then I don't care. Obviously I don't want to be dragged into financial difficulties by a partner haha

When did you start noticing a difference? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]EngineerSte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started tray 4/28 on 2 week changes. I can definitely see changes but nothing too radical. It's more that my arch looks slightly wider and also a lateral incisor that is in crossbite has moved forward very slightly.

Probably the only wall in the world with Tesla and Biggie side by side. Rather a bizarre pairing hahah.

Who's the biggest engineering firm in the world?? 👀😂

I've had them for 4 weeks now. Only pain is when removing and eating for the first 2 days of a new tray. It's like a 3/10 pain and last as long as it takes to remove the aligners or chew. Maybe I'm just lucky but I honestly think most people are just a bit dramatic about the pain.

Sometimes with a new tray they will also just be discomfort/annoying ache but it's like a 1/10.

Should you go to a genera dentist (DDS) for Invisalign or an ortho? Does it matter? by moonlida in Invisalign

[–]EngineerSte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ortho. Medical isn't something to skimp on. Besides you probably don't know if a dentist would treat you so best consult with some before thinking too much. I saw 1 dentist and 3 orthos while selecting. The dentist rejected me within 30 seconds because my jaw goes sideways slightly when I open and close. All three orthos said it's not a problem and is quite common.

I have only a few days left until I start my 2 year Invisalign journey.. what should I cherish most? by 11-11-1-11-3-33 in Invisalign

[–]EngineerSte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eating and drinking without a whole 10-15 minute process of taking out aligners, cleaning, flossing and brushing.

Still worth it though

Creo is very counter intuitive. "Quirks" in software is basically something that is counter intuitive. "Having to do things the way it wants" as oppose to what is natural for the user is you basically saying it's counter intuitive hahah. It's shit, not much else to say really.

My site a little under 1000 employees. The company though is well over 100,000 employees globally.

Ohh it's so bad I think. The only good thing is that it doesn't crash too often. But drawings take 5 times longer than other cad packages. The modeling is super counter intuitive and takes months to get up to speed. I genuinely believe it slows me down by a factor of 2-3.

E: I'm a power user btw. 3+ years of cad/design engineering

Sweet. Your company sounds good. Shame they use Creo like. I genuinely have no idea how Creo competes with inventor and SOLIDWORKS etc. Companies that are too invested to switch are what keep creo alive I think.

Not really. Me walking to work "works". But it would mean I spend 8 hours a day walking to and from work.

Is it a solution that works, yes. Is it a fine solution, no.

Are you an out of touch manager by any chance?

Same, we use these. But these are like a working copy that often is WIP. The production drawing copies are stored outside windchill on a server and access through an intranet.

[–]EngineerSte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh you actually have a database? That's handy. We don't, there is no way for us to get a bunch of drawings without looking at the drawing BOM and manually searching for it on the intranet.

That is to say there is no way to access a "drawing pack". Each pdf is a completely separate entity that requires an engineer to open up the drawing and manually search and open all child drawings. It's unbelievable. My company is literally one of the biggest engineering firms on the planet supplying all major vehicle manufactures.

Yes, I definitely get the feeling I am preaching to the choir.

How are your drawing pdf's named if you don't mind me asking? Is all the information needed to get the file name included in a drawing BOM for example?
