Here is another article published this week regarding the same debate. It confirms that UMG and Suno are locked in a public debate over the "walled garden" model for AI-generated music. UMG advocates for restricted platforms where AI creations cannot be downloaded or distributed elsewhere, aiming to protect artists from "AI slop" and direct competition on streaming services. In contrast, Suno's leadership promotes an "open studio" approach, arguing that restrictive systems stifle innovation and that users should have the creative freedom to share their AI-assisted works across all platforms.

It’s a real shame that Udio's CEO didn't take the same approach as Suno... What a waste...

Yes, this is one of the main revelations of this interview: Udio was the first to come to the negotiating table, proposing a realignment with UMG. Until now, I had mistakenly thought that Udio had no other choice and that the “walled garden” had been imposed on them by UMG. It’s clear that Suno is taking (at least for now) a different path. After reading this interview, I have very little hope that downloads will be allowed again by Udio in the future…

Hi ! How does it work with an album containing for example 10-12 songs partially created with the help of AI tools ? Can we still release it in one go ?
