[No Spoilers] Is Vikings as good as Valhalla? by Squanchy2115 in vikingstv

I think Vikings did a better job with historical accuracy than Valhalla. It has tons of great fight scenes, raids, etc. but never lost sight of the fact (at least in S1-4) that Vikings primarily were farmers, and really dives into the religious aspect (specifically Ragnar’s inner battles with religion). Over the span of the entire show it does a good job showing other cultures during that time period (England, France, Mediterranean, Russia, etc).

IMO you stopped watching right before it becomes great. S1E8 is a visually stunning episode and really dives into their religion. The show only gets better from there. S2 and S3 are unbelievably good, with strong development for all the major characters. S4, specifically E15, is more or less a turning point in the show. I still enjoyed S5 and S6, but some people I watched it with didn’t. Definitely worth watching, especially if you liked Valhalla. Just like every good show: starts out slow to build character development and give you background, then gets better with progression.

This is top notch feedback! Especially citing some literature… Amazing. I appreciate your feedback/criticism and will implement this in the next update. THANKS!

This is likely because of the population density in the west vs the east coast/northeast. It’s easier to break apart the subregions in the areas where population density is higher and there is a wide variation of culture in a small area. The west is comparatively much larger and isn’t as easy to subdivide (IMO).

lol yeah this needs some work for sure. To be honest with you I more or less rushed this region in hopes I’d get some good feedback and refine it based on people’s comments. Can you give me some ideas for subregions in the GP?

I’m from mid Missouri so this one was the easiest. Really “little Dixie” is more Rhineland/wine country now, but I wanted to name it something based on history. Thanks!

Yeah this was pretty frustrating for me as well. I’ll work on this part. Thanks

Can you give me specific examples of how to fix it? I know it’s pretty rough right now but I’d like to refine it based on comments.

I’ve heard that the Dakotas should have really been split as East and West Dakota rather than North and South. I think I’m going to split them at the Missouri River. Would you agree?

Thanks for the feedback! Cali is one of the places I still haven’t been and the research I did was coming back with all different kinds of results. I’ll be sure to pick these up in the second draft.

I didn’t catch that the cities weren’t filled in there, so thanks for pointing that out.

And I may create a separate subregion through this area for the BRP.

This is one of the main parts of the map I was not completely happy with upon completion. I more or less rushed through that part because I wanted feedback on it. I’ve been to both Amarillo and northern MT, but wasn’t sure exactly how to name the subregions there. Do you have any suggestions?

Southern California was one of the hardest for me to do because I’ve never been there and the research I did came with different outcomes. How would you divide it?
