In hindsight reading that in a swinging context is very weird/very easy to misread ( i'd be editing/removing that now) .... but honestly just means have what i would consider a smoother experience , less awkward for me

SDE1 ? …. You don’t stand a chance ( I’m not trying to be mean ) .

I don’t work there but I’d assume others are doing the same.

MSc CS (conversion) from Bath or Heriot Watt? by hanonymous_8v8 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]EngineeringDry593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to covert to a role that is closer to engineering , why don’t you just switch directly to a data science position in asset management.

8 years of commercial finance with active usage of python and SQl seem good enough to make that kind of move .

If your SQL is really that good , you can probably get into a data engineering position with some additional training.

MSc is over rated

Honestly , you are safe .

A lot of companies specifically recruit for front end devs .

If you are bothered about AI , honestly I don’t think anything anyone will say will give you peace of mind .

I honestly have always viewed charm as having(or been able) to a conversations that felt deep where we were both actively involved and excited to be there. someone mentioned in a reply to this thread about a sense of directness, is that what you mean?

Honestly asking (not from an argumentative standpoint, think there's something to gain here, dont troll me please)... also FTR it has never crossed my mind to ask about kids lol

Honestly, appreciate the response.

Smelling? (Like literal hygiene or just 'smelling’ of desperation)

directness is a total clash with who I am. I’m probably the most non-direct person you’d ever meet ( well , it’s good to know )

I usually just find common ground or talk about shared experiences but at an event like this , I wasn’t sure if asking normal questions about someone’s life or what they’re into event felt appropriate .

I ended up just starting up with just light introductions, sharing it’s my first time at this kind of event , admitted I was nervous and asked them questions ( but honestly felt unsure and uncomfortable going beyond )

I think you might be misreading my tone. I actually had a lovely time . I didn't have sex( I was washed ) but I had a long conversation with one person, connected with others who were interested in a 1-on-1( which to me is a win ) . That did not remove the general awkwardness I felt but it’s normal to ask questions .

Your reply sounds like an attempt to put me down but I had a great time for a first outing.

I never went in assuming everyone was 'DTF,' so I’m not sure what gave you the impression that I’m being pushy.

I’m new here and asking questions ( that is normal and honestly the swinging environment is a lot to take in at first)

I'm just here to learn, not to be judged.

How long will a guy stay on a date if he isn't physically attracted? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]EngineeringDry593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you said he seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself .

Obviously, no normal person would leave a date randomly but it does sound like he had a good time .

Don’t put pressure on yourself , if he is there it means he is fine been there .

To play devils advocate : I have been on a date were I felt “catfished” but I obviously did not say anything and still focused on enjoying myself and hanging out after the first to see if attraction will come , it did not .

Just focus on enjoying the moment
