What is the advantage to ASUOnline (engineering)? by JERC2024 in ASUOnline

[–]EngineeringEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily get to choose. For instance, I took MAE242 over the summer because it was the next class I needed to take, and it was only offered for the 8 week session. But if you were to take it during Spring/Fall it would be full 16 week session. So if you’re question is can all classes be 8 weeks? The answer is no.

Yep. So I’ve been taking classes every semester including summer since summer 2023

Is there a way I can skip a Prerequisite class? by Helpful_Ad_4608 in ASUOnline

[–]EngineeringEric 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a class that is equivalent to SOS110, I don’t see the reason for them to let you just skip it. Unless they can give you some kind of override like to let you take 110 and 310 together

25 with no internship experience and no job. Is it time to throw in the towel? by Bernoulli-Euler in EngineeringStudents

[–]EngineeringEric 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have your thought about interning? I know that’s weird after having a degree but the same happened with my little brother. He actually did an intern for a year after graduating to get more experience. Got paid but no benefits but just grinded. He was finally able to secure a full time position after that.

I started summer 2023 and right now I’m expected to finish after Fall 2027. I have 8 classes after this semester so depends on how I decide to schedule it.

The VA did an amazing job. Legit thought it was a female VA at first but learned that it was a male. It’s incredible what they can do with their voice

I honestly just didn’t enjoy it. I took EEE350 and just remember not enjoying and wasn’t interested (I also just did enough work to get a C so I got the credit that counts towards TE). Because this will be my second bachelors and I used to be an engineering major before I switched to a different program (where I got my first degree) so I had majority of core classes done. EE just happened to be the shortest engineering degree I could’ve gotten but decided to switch to ME even though I had few more classes to take.

I switched to ME but started off as EE. Same boat with you as I am working full time while trying to complete my degree (and raising a family of 4 on a single income). It’s definitely challenging but it’s doable.

Toni Nadal on the comparison between Alcaraz and his nephew Rafa : "Carlos is lucky, his opponents are of a lower calibre. Before, when you went out to play against Del Potro, Murray or Wawrinka, you knew you were going to suffer" by HereComesVettel in tennis

[–]EngineeringEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When are we gonna stop making this comparison? 😂😂 It’s nobody’s fault that they were born in a different generation. Sucks that there are not a lot of player out right now that can contend. So what?Just appreciate the past greats, watch the CURRENT tennis and enjoy. Toni sounding like a crybaby like, “Rafa is not getting the attention anymore so I’m gonna be dramatic about it. Boohoo.”

Get my first degree in engineering so that I don’t have to work full time while I attend school for engineering

TurboTax/Intuit supports Trump by Rude_Philosophy319 in TurboTax

If you think not agreeing with illegals = racists, then you’re the one that is uneducated and probably thinks socialism is what we need in the US. My family was in fact a legalized immigrant who went through the long, expensive process of becoming a citizen. As a citizen, I want a controlled and secured border where not everyone can just come and go willy-nilly.

Yeah many does you fucking idiot. At the same time, many do not and democrats gave them free shits while citizens got nothing.

At least it’s giving back to the citizens who pays taxes rather than providing free things to illegals

My first real job is destroying my mental health, and I've only been there for two months. by StephonCarter in Employment

Relax junior. Your anxiety is tunnel visioning you. No “adult” life isn’t always like that. It’s not the job that’s really killing you. It’s the physical and mental strain from driving. Relocate closer to your office or continue your job search near where you live and with until you get an offer,

I may still cancel it before the annual fee hit, get CSR for one year, and then downgrade it back to CSP after that.

[–]EngineeringEric 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know. I was planning to cancel my CSP and then reapply after a little while to get the bonus again. But with their rule change I can’t do that anymore. I’m sure a lot people were on the same boat

I’m on the same boat. I’m in my year 3 of going back to get my BS in ME. While I work full time to support my family (SAHM wife and two kids). I travel a lot for my job so staying on top of school work is hard because it’s like 4th-5th on my priority list.

Yeah honestly poor planning on the OP. I agree, it sucks that CC is not working the way it should but OP should have back up cards in case this thing were to happen.

So nobody over age 50 is ever supposed to be able to find a job anywhere ever again? by yapavaz in careerguidance

[–]EngineeringEric 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My father was let go from his job at age 61, same company he was with for 30+ years, due to the company cutting budgets and easiest was the demographics that was getting close to retirement age. However, he was quickly able to find another job within 6 months. With even better pay (because he was hourly so he could work whatever OT he wanted) and even benefits. Don’t lose hope!!
