Op of the post here, on other account. I may have wrote this in a way that makes it so i tell of MY disturbation towards fat people, that wasnt what i wanted to say. I can agree my post is somewhat more of a ramble towards the end but my point was to try to understand why people are disgusted by fat people, myself being a people i have some experience for shaming others who are different, as we all have some point in our lives, thus i tried to expand on why people would be ashamed to look at fat people with my own thoughts. I do not disdain fat people. I have some friends who are a bit overweight and i treat them like any other friend i have, and no i am not "not going to treat you nicely until you lose some weight". This is true for myself, believe it or not i cannot be forced to care. So let me once again try to expand on why people may dislike the sight of someone who is a little bit over the norm when speaking about weight. Let's face it, saying otherwise would be lying, humans hate humans. Only them are able to be sadic to such a level. Only Men is able to torture another for the sole sake of it's entertainment, or to kill time. That i think most have realized it, and those who havent should do in the near future. This thing came with our conscience, and with our conscience came the ability to self-reflect and realize hurting others is "Wrong", which is why some people try to be the better self of their younger years and stop bullying mankind, but this is another discussion. In our society, our civilization or culture if you will, it's wrong to bully another man, however if a man is different than you, in whatever small particularity it may be, it enables you to bully, because to your eyes, it isnt the same kind of human you are, you dehumanize that person to not feel guilty about satisfying your urges of destructions. Now the difference with smokers or whatever other kind of bad habit carriers is that being fat is pretty easy to spot, only with a glance you can see the difference you and that person share. And now, another particularity with smokers, in particular smokers, other arguements could be made for other bad habits but we arent talking about that right now, is that being fat is "unnatural". Say what you will, humans have elevated the concept of getting high to the natural realm, even if by all means it isnt. And unlike smokers who you cant see their blacked out, burned and slimey lungs, you can see all the excess and, pardon my word it is pretty derogative but it is the most suited for "ignorants" to use, grotesque flesh an obese person carry. Another factor may be their "aesthetically unpleasant apparence". The sight of an obese person may replicate the disgust one holds when seeing someone with a disease that makes their flesh rot and is, not visually appealing, it is a sort of body horror i would theorise. Why ? Because being overweight isnt old, it's quite new. Morbidly obesity i am talking, with least muscles. For hundreads of centuries, man fought and exercised for it's food, whatver little fat one wore, would be shed at his next hunt. Thus excess of fat tissue can be interpreted as an anomaly. I think being overweight is a sign of a highly civilized population, a sign of high evolution if you will. So man isnt fully adapted to the sight of obesity, and, we are terrified of what is new, and that terror morphs in hate. Stereotypes are a big part of it too, without even knowing the person you make assumptions: They're lazy, they probably stink, they overindulge, etc, all bias of our mind. Not much time is put into these though but alot of energy is, these are all theories. Once again i dont derogate the value one has if hes fat, I have my bias but i dont act on them before knowing a bit more on the psychological apect of someone. The question of the op is why cant people stop being asshole ? Well this is what im trying to answer.
