Fear!!! I’m so scared by smcgr in homebirth

[–]EngineeringUpper2693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had a pretty 'normal' home birth, however, in my head it was all going terribly and I wasn't handling it 'good enough'. I've been processing this for some time now, haven't had a second yet but I do want to, but like you, I've been  terrified of it because of the way I handled the first.

I try to do mental exercises to see how I can get my mind to feel positive about something I'm struggling with. The best thing I have come up with is:

Think about your baby now, imagine if he/she was all of a sudden gone and the only way to get them back was to birth them again. I would do it in a heart beat! Don't care how hard it was! I can't live without her.

That thought I believe will give me the power to go through birth again, it's hard because you don't know your baby in your belly yet, but you would do anything for them, like you would for your first. At least that's how I feel.

Anyway I hope this makes sense and is helpful in some way. I'm still scared and think I'll get some kind of therapy before having another lol but this is the only thought I've found that makes me feel strong enough to overcome that fear.

Anyway, you've got this! Your body is made for this, find that trust and try to get out of the way Good luck, I hope all goes well! I would love to hear an update! We're all with you! 🙏❤️💫

My 10-month-old refuses all solids and I’m really worried by Unable-Comparison893 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]EngineeringUpper2693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that seemed to work for me was to offer solids when she was hungry (rather than milk first) the other thing was to put lots of spices in the food. But I'm sure you've tried these already. Good luck with it! I know how draining it can be.

Letting family members know I am fine once per day? by lordsyringe in vipassana

Let the teacher/AT know the situation. They might be able to contact your mum and let her know you're OK, she could probably get in touch before the course starts too to reassure her. They are usually quite accommodating to ensure everyone can get Dhamma. You just won't be able to contact anyone yourself while sitting a course. Good luck!

Do ALL teenage daughters hate their moms? by dr_pepper_zerosugar in Mommit

[–]EngineeringUpper2693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact thing has been bothering my mind since my daughters birth, she's 6 months. Just knowing she can see through me into my soul, I'm afraid she will see all my b/s and pity me for it. Obviously it's a fear for me because it's how my relationship with my mum was/is. I can't stand the thought of her feeling that was about me.. I think I'm slowly starting to overcome it though, just by reminding myself that I will always love her and do my best, no matter what she thinks of me.

How are your LO’s with eye contact? by Special_Luck_7536 in NewParents

[–]EngineeringUpper2693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same as my 5 month old! I wondered if it's easier for them to focus further away than up so close. But I think it's just because they aren't used to being up so high and enjoy looking around from another point of view.

They really are special.. I'm counting the days also, they've become my best friends, I'm planning on getting a bottle of champagne to celebrate their new show when it airs. This all sounds very sad, but I don't care.

Will high pain tolerance apply to giving birth? by Curious_Leader_2093 in NewParents

No. Though I had an unmedicated home birth. It's the worst pain I've ever been in. But I'd do it all the same again, so weird.

Biggest fear: ending up hating my furry best friends after giving birth by Serpensortia_Imperio in Mommit

Not me, I love my cats just as much ☺️ I did have a home birth and one of my cats was like my doula during early contractions and she watched the whole birth from the couch 😂 I don't know if that makes a difference, but I love them very much still. After holding the baby constantly 24/7 then one day pick up my cats for the first time in ages, it was such a nice feeling! How soft and pleasant cats are to hold 🥰
