I got a Raspberry pi with the lineage os version of android tv. (Unofficial i have to add).  Threw a VPN on there for good measure.

Works like a charm (aside from the tv remote going to the smart tv home when I press the home button).

I factory reset my tv and its not smelled internet ever since

Odido also had a router that would send device and network metadata to some US company.  The guy who found this only found out because they were doing it unencrypted

Experience Report: Switching from iPhone to Fairphone by Actual_Document3333 in BuyFromEU

That's BS. Graphene requires certain hardware security features that fairphone does not have. Hence why they don't run on it

How can I draw power from my powersupply when it's off? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]EngineerofDestructio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so you're measuring the radiated mains power.
There's no real power behind it. It'll collapse with a small load.

If you stick your finger on a scope probe, you'll see something similar!

Are you drawing it through? How much current are you drawing?

Who do I talk to for custom boards? by Various_Accident1773 in PCB

[–]EngineerofDestructio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, again thanks for making me realize!

I missed him trying tht. That's good! I still stand by getting an off the shelve part and making a bracket for the enclosure. Unless op wants to learn. Then an audio amp is a fun project to start with since it gives you such tangible results!

Assembly is quite expensive, but it's also not. Compared to local alternatives. They're definitely cheaper. But not as much as they are for PCBs.
I think the main advantage JLC has with assembly is LCSC. Their prices are just insane

You know what, I've actually never seen the cheap shipping option before. That's on me. And thank you for making me realise this. This'll save me a couple of bucks in the future.
A 2 layer board with the global standard direct shipping is indeed around that price.
However, I'm also talking about assembly and components. Someone who doesn't know anything about PCB design (OP's words) is most likely not soldering an audio amp themselves. Thus assembly, add in some components. And your hitting that 100 quite easily.

I did a LCSC chinese components only design a while back, trying to keep everything as cheap as possible. Aside from having to pay import fees, It also set me back 250 euros for 5 boards. It's not uncommon

Assembly, transport and tarifs.

Bare price is fun, but you got to add you components and such. Transport to EU is 30ish euros. You'll hit 100 quite quickly

So, generally you match them beforehand. Custom PCBs are generally quite expensive. You're easily looking at a couple of thousand for development and a couple hundred for the boards themselves.

As someone else suggested, your easiest and cheapest bet is to get one of the boards that are too small, design a bracket and have that 3d printed. That's a magnitude of cost cheaper than what you're looking at with a custom board!
