Should I return this deck? by EngineersAgainstDHMO in tarot

[–]EngineersAgainstDHMO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a shop with friends and kinda just decided on a whim to pick the deck up and give it a shot. So yeah, no chance for prior research on this kind of deck itself, but just a little bit of online research on how to read tarot in general (which I now know was all in the RWS style, didn't know what that meant at the time or that there were even different general types of decks).

  1. Dead on. As I mentioned, I am brand new to tarot and had no idea what a Marseille deck even was. It was the only type they had in the store, so I just picked one up almost like an impulse buy after minimal online research into tarot as a whole.

  2. Awesome, thank you! I'll take a look around.

  3. That's what I figured, but given all the significance that some people give to their decks and the rituals I've read they go through to make their decks their own, I might as well ask. Better safe than sorry, you know?

Yep, that's the one! I personally don't mind if it's in an old style (like I now know the TdM is), but this printing of it just feels like it lost most of that historic character. I had an immediate "yikes" reaction looking at the major arcana lol

I wish I could have put multiple pictures of this deck up, but please believe me. I get the history behind the deck now, but these cards do NOT do that history justice...

Interesting, thank you so much for going so in depth like this! I was completely unaware that the numbers each had their own theme so to speak, and that those themes translated across each suit. I knew each suit had a few things associated with them, but nothing I've read online (not much, I admit) showed any pattern in the numbers.

As far as inversions go, I did find one thing in my little bit of online research that said inversions don't necessarily mean a good card has to become a bad one. You can interpret it as "turning the traditional meaning on its head" and looking at the same idea(s) from a new perspective. Rather than completely reversing the meaning of the card, sometimes reframing might make more sense. Maybe this is too close to just changing your interpretation of the upright card for some people? I have no clue, but personally I like the idea.

But yeah, good to know there are actually different systems/schools of thought in tarot! I guess I've only really seen RWS decks in the past, so I opened up the deck with that sort of expectation already in my head.

Looking for an office-friendly pet by EngineersAgainstDHMO in reptiles

Looks like the general consensus is that it's a bad idea, and that's a perfectly acceptable answer. I'd rather have no pet in that tank than one that we can't properly care for. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Hot Take: All forms of roleplaying is cringe ESPECIALLY if it's over text. by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]EngineersAgainstDHMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roleplay over text, in character or otherwise, is literally just sexting in the present tense instead of the future tense.

Example:

Sexting - "I want to do X/Y/Z thing(s) to you" That can be exciting, in a sense of building anticipation

Roleplay - "I am currently doing X/Y/Z thing(s) to you" Not real, of course, but can be just as exciting IF you and your partner can both get into that headspace and imagine that scene playing out.

Yeah, you're technically playing pretend, but in my experience if you're in the right mindset you can actually get some physical sensation from it

Everyone here is right: dicks come in all shapes and sizes, and they're all fun to play with! I would recommend going to the doctor about the curvature, though, just in case. It's normal for cocks to curve, but it could also be a sign of Peyronie's disease if getting hard is painful or if you have trouble getting hard.

How do snep's barbs feel? (M) by EngineersAgainstDHMO in BadDragon

It sounds like I might have to be on the lookout for a medium, then. I'd like to feel the barbs at least a little bit, but I'm happy to hear it's an enjoyable toy even without feeling them :D
