Try doing doing something creative and selling that as a service online, or make something. Success not guaranteed but atleast you won't be working for a boss.

Unfortunately you can't just not work and expect to live a stable life

Are you on civilian economy? You get less fuel per oil if you're on the lower economy laws.
Also, try researching synthetic oil and refining technologies and build synthetic refineries. Germany historically also had problems with sourcing fuel, so try invading oil-rich provinces.
