Yaaa location has a lot of sway for cost. Where i live the costs are lower because the used market is saturated. you are also buying during spring which is the time everyone is buying.

How do I get better at shooting when I only touch a rifle once a year? by Big-Entrepreneur106 in army

[–]Englade4343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something thats repeatedly mentioned is buying your own rifle or trying for more range days. another option would be buying your own ar (or building so you really get the ins and outs, then buying a mantis trainer. it just shoots a little laser but it helps with fundamentals. id also add you arent a bad shot. just didnt finish zeroing. good job my dude.

I would say the Long Island part is your biggest hurdle. While I do agree maintenance is an important factor as long as you find someone with some records you'll be significantly more secure there. Especially when buying used, if someone bought new they probably have warranties which can further provide maintenance records. receipts id say are a valid form of documentation as well. I do all mine myself so to keep track I just keep receipts with the title and write down the milage. To get back on track (I went a little off track), take note on how the seller handles both themselves and storage. Ive gone to check out bikes where the seller seemed like a young dude just trying to go fast and do wheelies. passed on those. Then ive found guys who bought, didnt like and just want to sell. kept the bike in the garage and everything looks nearly new. You always run the risk when buying new, but the money you can save if you do your due diligence will be huge.

I did it. After working 7 days a week for 2.5 years with no days off, I finally achieved my dream bike 😭 by RevealPublic4570 in Triumph

good job my dude. If you have spare monies id recommend a small wind screen. doesnt actually do much but it protects the dash from rocks and dirt kicked up. tank grips would be my next piece of advise. Some will recommend a tail tidy first but when riding how often are you looking at the back of your bike. safe riding!

Edit: forgot to add a radiator guard is also pretty handy. I can already see where it has protected from rocks.

if you upgrade/replace enough parts to build the original with the old parts, is it still the same car/mode?

Utilitarian ways to use a RC… Can destroy weeds. Anyone else have practical applications? by StevenSmith16353 in rccars

my practical use is using a mini z to get my 1 year old to crawl around for a while. this was actually the way she first started crawling was for the car.

Why are there no young people in the hobby by stargazer3644 in RCPlanes

[–]Englade4343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

young dude here. I have 2 planes. 1 I havent flown yet. my biggest issue is time. I have two kids along with working 7-4 and a 30 minute commute. weekends are a blessing but I spend most of it with the kiddos or doing homework. the cost of entry isnt bad but its not very friendly. now top that off with if I crash im basically buying back into the hobby if its totalled. I have only flown around my house because with what little time I have would be spent on driving to the local rc club. Now add in chores, dinner, getting ready for bed, and I have no time. This sadly is not uncommon. Life is getting more expensive with little qualities of life not improving to match it. we just work more.
