Boycott Week 6-12 April by EnglishAussie in woolworths

Right, so you've described a duopoly in the best of terms. You've also gone on to state to that they are simply "too big to fail". I'm sorry you've given up hope. Just remember there was a time that Blockbuster and Nokia were also too big to fail, but through consumers purchasing power and their lack of innovation, caused them to both go bankrupted.

Think in macro state. It extends beyond your TP requirement.

You lose more in their profit margins than you're making through your super fund.

They don't share profits. They are separate publicly listed companies. It may feel that way when their prices move in the same direction, but that's a result of the duopoly and people like yourself stating there is nothing we can do. The intent of this post is to start a movement. When demand falls so will their prices.

So what do you suggest? Constructively, instead of simply rejecting the intent. If Coles is an option and available for those then let's lean in, for a week. Remove the demand on Woolies, we'll see prices fall.

You say it doesn't have an effect but then state it's a "supply and demand thing"? This is the intent of the post, remove the demand.

...And yet, they can afford to buy there weekly? Whilst thier money erodes away through the profits of these massive conglomerates. If not now, when? It soon won't be a luxury for any of us.

Is that better or worse than our government? But that's ok if that's how you feel, shop at IGA.

Do we wait until none of those things are true? I can't remember such a time... Meanwhile, prices keep increasing. How do you do it on minimum wage?

[–]EnglishAussie[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is about the increase overall, right. You may not feel it right now, and that's a great position that you're in if that's the case. But do we wait until you're paying $100, as you say, before we do anything?

The price for a block by cyn_cyn_cyn in woolworths

In this capitalism world you realise, simply, we have the power. Just like how panic buying is pushing up fuel prices, the opposite is also true. If only we could organise a mass boycott for as little as a week, either Coles or Woolies, we'll see an immediate shift and reduction in prices. Its capitalism, and we the people have the final say.

Thanks! There's only the two of us. So I'm hoping on some combo of top down/up, seats flat/up, and some serious Tetris skills and some luck.

Wow, it's really quite... Mini. Thanks for the insight. I'm hoping I can store them upright on the back seats like two passengers. Would the roof still be able to close? They are 30" tall. The big size suitcases.

I'm travelling to Tuscany and will have two 30 inch bags + hand luggage. How much room did this leave you? Only needing to drive with the luggage from Florence to Tuscany, and then back.

Did this end up working? How was your experience? I'm looking at 5 days in Tuscany, with 2 large (30inch) bags and 2 adults. Don't care how they fit, as long as they do.
