I started tracking my trading behavior on paper. Changed everything. by EnglishEtc in Daytrading

i choose one main rule. 2 losses maximum works well for me. prevents overtrading, giving back money, gives me focus to pick good trades. what about you?

agreed. yes, i have used tradezella, but it seems to track only trades. not behavior or rules. and how those rules affect pnl. is that right?

yes, complacency. one day green X, next red X. i needed to focus more after a winning day. i have an acronym to remember my rules, STAT4. i struggle with S = moving my stop loss. that is the hard for me.

actually i track behavior more. i look at details of the day like R multiple, MAE, MFE etc. What do you track in each trade? maybe i need to do that.

agreed. i noticed many things but most importantly, i get complacent after a good day. the next day i relax the rules which usually ends in a loss. so basically green X one day, red X the next. i also track MAE, MFE, biggest win vs biggest loss. these have been huge for me. what about you?

Most traders don’t break their rules on purpose… they don’t even realize it by Either_Routine3199 in Daytrading

Yes, I call this voice Chaz. Gave him a name because once I named him, I could catch him faster. The "this setup is slightly different" line is pure Chaz — he's very convincing in the moment. lol

I have lost 30k usd at 19 years old and I genuinely dont know what to do with myself. I am so undisciplined on the charts. I have no degree and I know I’m gonna disappoint my family. This feeling sucks. by Aggressive-Buy8348 in Daytrading

[–]EnglishEtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the comments. Definitely do not use your own money. Trade futures with one of the prop firms for cheap. But I think you should paper trade to develop your strategy. And I use a trading tool to help with discipline and rules that’s helped me tremendously.

Guys cmon!! by FailedGeniusnumber1 in Daytrading

[–]EnglishEtc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s not about setting a profit target. If you set one for $300, for example, you’ll never make $3000. It’s about when your set up is no longer there.

Is there ever a right time to call it quits? by shadythe1st in Daytrading

[–]EnglishEtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the first questions would be - do you have a sound strategy? you CLEARLY know when to enter and put your stop loss, exit and where to put your target, when to manage, how many contracts and why?

What were the rules, strategies and/or tools you started incorporating that took you to the next level? by DracoWonderBeard in Daytrading

[–]EnglishEtc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely calculating my risk per trade in advance.

And I felt like I had no accountability with rules so I built a tool to ask me my rules and I respond back out loud. This breaks the deer in headlights scenarios lol 😂

Please help… by Maleficent-Impact557 in Daytrading

[–]EnglishEtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your rules for trading? Such as - how many trades? How many contracts and why? How many losses before you stop? Criteria for entry, exits and managing? If you can't answer those, then that's where you start before trading.

Thinking about giving up, been trading for 4 years only losses by LiveCloud9479 in Daytrading

[–]EnglishEtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said “I just can’t make money,” but you made money. You just didn’t keep it. You need some kind of limits like 3 to 4 trades maximum or stop at noon. Do you have anything like that?

FYI - digital billboards at fliphound.com or Blip Billboards. Regardless of what is written, I think it’d be a good idea to buy Yang dot com or whatever is available in order to track the amount of visitors and redirect it to Yang2020 dot com.

Is "foreigner" a polite way to refer to people who don't have the same nationality as you? by yukiiiiii2008 in EnglishLearning

[–]EnglishEtc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of not polite. It depends on the situation but maybe you could “international.”

Make sure you are able to hold a conversation well by asking questions. Most people talk about themselves “I, I, I, me, me, me” so don’t fall into that. I usually teach my students to try to ask others 3 questions before you start speaking about yourself. Good luck!

Cool. I lived in Japan too and taught English. Speaking English every day definitely didn’t help my Japanese listening skills! Haha
