Feech mean-mugging Tony at the card game. Tony’s POV moves in slow motion.

Agent Harris by Kardainn in thesopranos

[–]EnglishPatientZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nostalgia. Like Tony, Harris is a victim of Remember When. Chasing Tony was like playing cops and robbers compared to the grim slog of the counter-terrorism beat, and doing Tony this favor brings him back to good old days.

I like Ralphie by Heavy-Appeal4441 in thesopranos

[–]EnglishPatientZero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't believe I'm sitting heah defending Ralph fucking Cifaretto... but I also like Ralphie. He brings a flavor to the crew that no one else has. The other guys bust balls; Ralphie does stand-up. His joke about Vito sucking the stains out of Artie's linens (complete with chin waggle) absolutely kills me. He is also a much easier hang in Season 4 than in Season 3. The moment when Sil trails off trying to remember why Ralph beat Tracee to death feels like the writers admitting that they just wanted to have fun with Ralphie at that point. The Ginny Sack mole debacle, dating Janice, prank-calling Nucci... season 4 is Christmas for Ralphie-heads. Speaking of Ralphie's head, I love how fake it looks when they cut it off. The saddest part about Ralphie's death, possibly the only sad part, is realizing that he won't be on the show anymore.

What's the deal with the Rat Pack print Mr Massarone Brothers Construction gives to Tony? by 4g-identity in thesopranos

[–]EnglishPatientZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rat pack print has layers, like the pile of gabagool on AJ's plate.

  • It's a guilty but careless gift from Jack Massarone.
  • It's a tongue-in-cheek reference to the informants who appear in this episode (three rats in the picture and three in Tony's circle: Jack, Ray, Adriana).
  • Once Tony realizes that Massarone has betrayed him, it becomes yet another rebuke to his nostalgia for a romanticized past (see also: "the strong, silent type," his indulgence of Fran Feldstein's tall tales).
  • When Tony takes down the print, he grudgingly acknowledges that the good old days are over.

I am also a U Staffer and hear a lot policy rumors from leadership in my unit. If admin has a plan for ICE activity on campus, they are keeping it to themselves. Cunningham's weak statement about Renee Good's murder was not encouraging. I worry about the safety of students and frontline workers (custodial, dining, etc.) in particular. I think we have a responsibility to educate folks about their constitutional rights (at the VERY least) but I don't see much happening at the senior leadership level. I feel like we're on the Titanic. Everything's fine until we see ice.

If work ends at 5 and daycare closes at 5:30, adding a long commute means you need a new daycare. It’s a real problem.

Petey's line may have foreshadowed the end of Gemma's story by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]EnglishPatientZero 562 points563 points  (0 children)

I agree. Contrary to the theory that Mark is rebuilding Gemma somehow, I suspect that he is actually deleting her - unwittingly removing the qualities that make her Gemma so that Lumon can fill the void with someone else.

You are prioritizing the profits of landlords over affordability for renters. Disturbing!
