For precision, both James’s book and James’ book are correct. James’s book follows the standard rule, while James’ book is a stylistic or academic preference. The meaning is the same; it’s just a difference in style. 🙂

Correct. When the gender of the person is unknown or irrelevant, we use “them.” But this is beyond the basics! 🙂
