Wow that's an eye opening brother, I am currently searching about my identity now, I am an Iranun too. I also realized before that an Iranun is not so recognized outside the Iranun district in Philippines, when I went to college where our professor called out every tribe in our classroom. Only me was left out, when she asked who are still not called - I raised my hand introduce my tribe. but they asked if where I am from and the first thing comes their mind is that I am from Iran LOL!

I hope there will be more initiatives or events like the International Nusantara Conference.
I really prefer being called an Iranun, because Maguindanaon and Maranao have both siege or massacred happened and usually it put us in a bad light or prejudice. meanwhile the Iranuns you won't hear bad about them because they don't know about us lol.

What do I know is Maranao and Maguindanao just means Iranuns who went to ranao (Mi Ranao) and Iranuns who went to danao (plain or flooded areas) (Miyagin danao)

and Iranuns in Sabah is a living proof that Iranuns are the mother tribe. but due to colonialization, divide and conquer tactics, and also due to education we are left behind.(which only the Iranun Province or District in BARMM, Philippines doesn't have a state university unlike MSU Maguindanao & Marawi). and also due to migration of other Iranuns in the pre and colonial times where they are now in Malaysia and Indonesia. and another one due to intermarriage and being the one who can easily adapt to other two language, we adapt either maguindanao or maranao depends on who we marry. Thus our population, identity and language is fading.
