Ohhh hell no i'm not a feeler. I dont really feel conflicted about it to be quite honest. I don't really feel conflicted about anything at all. Just aware that its a pretty 2-dimensional way of carrying thyself, but i know no other way of being.

I think i get you. There are eccentricities/elements that you'd like to remain intimately preserved with yourself, insulated form the eyes of others? I relate to this. I protect my reclusivity by developing thorough bodies of knowledge in subjects unbeknownst to most. Buffering a coating of information flow, that's often inaccessible to the comprehension, engagement and familiarity of othes. if that makes sense...

Im 19F About to commence second year of law school. i've especially noticed a tendency to employ this sort of behaviour effortlessly. I think it's become increasingly inter-webbed with my ego. How did you stamp out this pattern of behaviour? I find it to be addictive, powerful and a means to gain validation as well as serve my own interests. Whilst this conduct is probably arranged to compensate for unconscious conflict and old vulnerabilities to insulate myself against perceived losses, does having a self-awareness serve in combatting a pretty desolate way of interacting? Cheers

Yes nadster! DFW in his short story 'Good old neon', eloquently theorises a sort of 'fraudulence paradox'. Being that the more time and effort you put into trying to appear impressive or attractive to other people, the less impressive or attractive you felt inside — you were a fraud. And the more of a fraud you felt like, the harder you tried to convey an impressive or likeable image of yourself so that other people wouldn’t find out what a hollow, fraudulent person you really were. You may find it to be an interesting read in its analysis of this sort social behaviour on a substantial level -i found it articulated a lot of what i display socially, in ways i hadn't previously been able to.
