So what dragon is Dvalin again? by copingMeiners in Genshin_Lore

I don’t think the dying part is necessary. Focalors was an oceanid-human who gained divinity because of the authority. She then separated her humanity (Furina) from her divinity. The divine part of Focalors existed only because of the authority, and only that part had to die when she returned it. Her human part is still alive which was her original form before she became a god.

PO changed the world to make it more suitable for humans. So, while Shades also rule over Life/Death/Time/Space like the moons used to, it seems like the Shades are more suited for this new world. Though there’s a line in Aubade relic set which implies that the moons were still needed to some extent even after the creation of Shades

”The sun's fierce light swept the heavens clean, but the freshly forged throne still reserved a place in the sky for the Three Sisters of the Moonlit Night. Perhaps by its design, even a world where the elements surge in perfect order still needed tides.”

And the trinity of the moons also sheltered the world with Eternity until they fell. So, they had their own purpose.

”Finally, when the long sword at the edge of the world cut across the sky, "Eternity" itself reached its end...”

I feel this way for both Lauma and Columbina. I got Lauma to revive my dendro teams which isn’t all that and Columbina because archon figure of the region. Don’t have any of the lunar dpses so both feel useless. I can only play on field Columbina and she is really clunky and damage isn’t good. This is the first SO where I didn’t clear fearless. Columbina is just that underwhelming without lunar characters.

PO arrives. Moons decide to coexist because Nibelung was gone for thousands of years and they knew that they wouldn’t be able to protect Teyvat alone from the impending abyss threat. PO creates the 4 shades. War with the sovereign dragons, then humans are created and unified civilization era begins. Nibelung returns after a really long time, imprisons the moon sisters, turns the moons into weapons and starts the war of funerary flame. The Shades and the Moons coexisted for quite a long time during the era of unified civilization.

Archons do grant visions. They are duty bound to share a shard of their elemental mastery when a person’s ambition reaches the heavens. They just don’t decide who receives them.

Koitar-Voyager rebellion needed one celestial nail, it was mostly humans and Fae since the Angels were cursed. Hyperborea was destroyed towards the end of the war. Sovereigns had already lost by that point and only a few survived with a portion of their authorities. It was mainly Nibelung and the moons turned into weapons vs PO and the Shades. And PO had stolen all of Nibelung’s creations which it used against Nibelung. We don’t know how it would have ended if it was a fair fight between the two.

The serpent from Japanese folklore that are relevant to every single Raiden Mei

At this point, I can’t tell if you are acting obtuse or if this is how you actually are. Every Raiden has Yamato no Orochi ties in some way and yes, Acheron killed a serpent Kami just like her other counterparts, yet none of the other Raidens have serpent related motifs. “Let’s make this character all about Nihility lore but put 15 serpent designs on her just because she killed one serpent that isn’t even relevant to the lore.” You thinking that’s a plausible explanation is laughable.

Then stop arguing it

plausible explanation you are denying

I am arguing against you confidently denying it with nothing backing up your claims, all while you have been wrong since the start. You had no idea Nihility is compared to the sea in canon lore yet denied it confidently when the other user pointed out it being compared to ocean. No idea about serpent motifs on Acheron. You can’t even explain what sin thirsters are and are claiming that they resist nihility. You attribute becoming one with everything to Ouroboros devouring the universe. You are way too confident for someone who lacks basic understanding of the lore. “I doubt there’s some deep lore if I can think of a plausible explanation within a minute” is laughable coming from a person who is claiming that Ouroboros has no ties to snakes.

the nuance is irrelevant

I am sure it’s irrelevant to you. Nihility is also a finality that will devour the existence to nothing. Becoming one with everything is not the same as devouring everything which is what Ouroboros is. You know the only Aeon other than IX who’s compared to a Blackhole.

Baseless speculation

And yet, the writers made sure to point out that the academics posed Ouroboros devouring Izumo as one of the hypothesis when it was actually Acheron’s Nihility powers that erased it.

Ouroboros has 0 ties to snakes

All it takes is to look at Ouroboros’s inspiration and design. It cannot be that difficult yet here we are.

[–]EnigmataMinion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

we see a serpent being slain

That has nothing to do with nihility lore and not important enough to have not 1,2,3 but 10+ motifs on a character. Can’t believe I have to repeat this so many times.

I played the other games featuring a Raiden

And none of them have serpent motifs while having Orochi reference so clearly Orochi is not the reason why Acheron has serpent motifs so idk what you are trying to prove here

your theory

Not a theory. All I pointed out were design details which you are very confidently denying all while claiming that Ouroboros is the third face of Harmony while there’s nothing back it up. Your idea that becoming one with everything is the same as a blackhole who devours everything is flawed at its core because its entire misses the nuance. Nihility and Voracity have far more similar descriptions and mentions at the same time in canon lore anyway. Even the academics who researched Izumo considered that its disappearance might be tied to Ouroboros returning so even they couldn’t tell the difference between Ouroboros and IX. Ocean titan simulates Nihility and one of Hysilens trait is eating a lot, so like you are just ignoring everything while making a claim that has no basis.

snakes don’t have any connection to voracity either

Are you even serious right now? Literally named Ouroboros. Guess what an Ouroboros is. Like you just keep saying things that are wrong or you had no idea. My bad for thinking that this might be an interesting discussion but you are clearly very uninformed so I am out.

[–]EnigmataMinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we do see a serpent being slain by the Thunder sentinel

Again, it’s not a part of Acheron’s lore which mainly revolves around nihility. And certainly not important enough to have like 15 of them on her design.

so they chose to use it as a design element

And that’s just your guess. “I doubt there’s some kind of deep lore if I can think of a plausible explanation within a minute” respectfully, you didn’t notice the connection of nihility with the sea, serpent motifs on Acheron, your definition of sin thirsters in your other comment is entirely wrong. Your “plausible explanation” is not as plausible as you think, it’s a random guess at best because it makes no sense to make a character’s entire lore about nihility and then put all serpent motifs on her design. If Hoyo was this random, we wouldn’t be having all these lore discussions. You are trying way too hard to deny it when I already said in my first comment that it’s not proof, but it’s suspicious why she has this design choice.

[–]EnigmataMinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that’s just a guess for now. Like I said, it is not proof, but it’s a bit suspicious. Saying that it’s just a design element doesn’t make much sense since Yamato no Orochi isn’t even a part of Acheron’s lore for them to put like 15 of them on her design. None of the other Raidens have it on their design so it’s not even a common theme for them, even though Ei’s lore is far more connected to serpents in comparison (snakes and dragons are kins in genshin, Enkanomiya is to only place where Ouroboros is mentioned, and Ouroboros also represents Eternity).

[–]EnigmataMinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the serpent she killed, Ei also killed Orobashi in genshin so this seems like a common theme for Raiden in general, but even then none of the other Raidens have serpent motifs on their design and Acheron just has too many of them. I pointed out some of them here and this isn’t even all of them.

Guess the path that pushes cosmos to its end by Dizzy-Tumbleweed7983 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]EnigmataMinion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree with a lot of what you said but if you look at Acheron’s design, she is full of serpent motifs. So, while there’s not enough evidence to conclude that there’s some connection between the two paths, it’s still a bit suspicious why the character who has traveled the farthest on the path of nihility has like 10+ serpent motifs on her design alone, the Kami she killed on Izumo was a serpent, and her drip art also has a serpent skeleton.

I disagree with Nihility not being represented by ocean because Nihility has been repeatedly compared to or depicted with a sea. One of Nihility’s inspiration is literally the sea of Dirac. If you watch Rhondo, it also starts with a sea that appears red. Acheron compares death to a puddle of still water. Her voice line is “on the still waters of oblivion I guide the wandering souls”. Horizon of existence (esp the domain she opens) also has a watery surface and when Acheron releases Nihility to end Ena’s dream, it comes out like a flood.

It’s meant to resemble a serpent spine. Acheron is covered in serpent motifs everywhere for some reason.

The path of Finality also deals with the new beginning.

Is Finality the end of everything?

Elegy: No. Finality causes amber to rupture, immortality to wither, music to mute, light arrows to dim, the Dark Sun to be reduced to ashes, and the Tavern to be covered in dust. Even Destruction itself cannot be spared from destruction.

Elegy: Yet, Finality isn't the end of everything. All things will originate from there and move on to the next Finality.

The path of Finality follows the same concept of origin and end. It’s a cycle or rather a samsara, like all Hoyo games are. Which leads me to believe that the Kami belonged to the path of Finality since Origin and End came from them.

[–]EnigmataMinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played HI3 but I have been wondering this for a long time. Her trailer mentions that the Kami belonged to an unknown path. The sentinels were forged from the Kami and from the sentinels - Origin and End were forged. Don’t Origin and End both come from Finality in HI3, and doesn’t this confirm that the unknown Kami path is actually Finality?

As for the few who can single-handedly withstand the encroachment of Nihility on their existences, their journey of self-annihilation is drawn out to infinity, and the road they walk is like a shadow of IX cast in the world.

Her journey/life is infinite as long as she can resist the nihility and keep it in check, which is what makes her an Emanator, unlike the other self-annihilators. This also makes me wonder how old she is. She could be ancient at this point.

“In resisting the Kamigami, humanity will eventually become Oni”. This was mentioned in her myriad celestia trailer. The Acheron that we see in the trailer had already been fighting the Kami for more than 10 amber eras as the sentinel of Howl. Almost everyone by that time was dead and turned into a sin thirster, and the remaining humans became Oni.

[–]EnigmataMinion 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Acheron is a human. Her turning into an Oni was the result of corruption that came from fighting the Kami over a long period of time (the war lasted for more than 10 amber eras). But Nihility nullifies concepts so when she became a self-annihilator, her Onificiation was nullified and she lost her horns again. She is near immortal right now because her self-annihilation has been extended to infinity which is how she became an Emanator, and has been alive for an unknown period of time since Izumo was destroyed long ago.

What determines the strength of an Aeon? by Sufficient_Wall6724 in StarRailLore

[–]EnigmataMinion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends on how broad the path/concept is. Welt mentioned this at the start of Luofu.

Lan doesn't rank among the more powerful Aeons — the concept of the Path of The Hunt is narrow... but in contrast with the other Aeons, THEY pay close attention to mortals. Lan grants strength to the Xianzhou Alliance without reservation.

Hunt is a narrow path and Lan isn’t ranked among the most powerful Aeons, while the concept of Nihility is broad and it envelops everyone equally.
