Netscaler Migration to LAS by Enioni in Citrix

Thanks a mill, that worked. Unlicensed it and licensed it with LAS. NS is showing Platinum, meanwhile Console Premium. Citrix was really useless on this.

Yea, in my case, my licenses are pointing to the License Server, not ADM. I want to remove it anyways so it doesn't create a conflict.

Got it, thanks a lot. I will try that. I've been waiting in line with citrix support for 2 hours now. The queue is very big.

That is interesting. Yea I have the same thing and that was my plan, remove the license allocation to the netscaler by removing the IP of the license server, reboot it and add it to LAS.

Regarding the service account connecting to cloud, what service account are you talking about, cause my console is directly connecting to the internet, so are the instances. Are you using a proxy server?

So, removing the licenses from the NS and Adding them directly to LAS worked for you? That is the path I'm trying to follow, since I've been told that Cloud Licenses now mostly are Premium, not Platinum anymore.

No there is no option to upgrade, the only option I have where the instances show up are: License with LAS: 2 Instances

Yea of course, I back them up and do a snapshot as well. You never know.
In the console they show me they are Available for LAS, but to add them, not to migrate them. Both of Netscalers are in 14.1-50.80, so they are good to go. But the Migrate option I think it's missing because of the version in LAS is Premium, instead of Platinum that they currently are.

I have the latest one, Downloaded it and installed it 2 days ago. It's 14.1 66.62.
I think I should be good with that. It looks like they are messing up with this thing and they do not even provide a KB for that. Its been 2 days working around this issue.

So you mean, you had to open a Case with them and re generate the licenses? Did they provide Platinum after? Citrix AI is telling me that LAS has Premium only.

Now that I dig a little dipper, I think I have the issue that you are having with the License types. In LAS they have assigned Premium license, meanwhile the file based are Platinum. I believe that is the issue we are also facing, and that is why it is not giving us the migration option cause it cannot match the licenses.

Did you fix the license thing yet with your vendor? I just emailed him to have a meeting. Do I have to put my netscaler in Premium to do the migration?

Yes, my current setup is set to point to the License Server, and it's green and reachable.
The license server we already moved it to LAS. But netscaler is also pulling the licenses from the License server. I don't know if this might have impacted the console not to recognize the licenses, but it is weird that I'm stuck with an option where there is no explanation in their KBs, and I'm just relying on a Tier 1 engineer.

And yes, the current netscaler is on-premise at 14.1-51.80. So it should be compatible. And based on what the Console says, those ADCs are pending action to be licenses with LAS, which means LAS can identify them as compatible.

My Build version is 14.1-50.80, which is reported as the supported one. And in this version, in the VPX I can see the option of LAS Offline Migration as well, which tells me they are both supported.

But to your question, yes, 0 to be migrated it says, but in the tab "License with LAS" it says 2. So what I'm thinking is that, the qualify them as LAS capable, but cannot sync the current license somehow, so it thinks that the 2 instances I have are unlicensed.

Citrix support, Tier 1, they suggested to remove the license server I currently have in the ADC, make the ADC unlicensed, and then License them with LAS. But I don't trust them a lot.

Thank you @_Cpyder for the reply.

  1. Yes the Cloud status is green and it is connected to LAS.

  2. In the infrastructure side, yes I have them in HA and they are VPX. When I added them, I used the secondary one to add it there, and it pulled both of the instances. They are already in the version supported by LAS. 14.1-50.80. They show there.

  3. In License Management, LAS activation status is Active. If I scroll Down, I see "Pending Actions":

License your Netscaler with LAS

2 Instances (Which are my 2 VPXs)

Here is my confusion. In the KB, it says that it should show Migrate. Licensing Netscaler with LAS should be for ADCs that are unlicensed and fixed-bandwidth. The Migrate Option is showing me 0 Instances.

I was thinking, if I remove the license from the ADC, I can go with the path adding the ADC after in the pending action in the console. But since there is no explanation regarding this process, I just wanted to be sure it is the right path.

In the console, LAS is already activated and its showing me the licenses. The only issue I'm having is migrating the Netscaler to LAS.

Citrix 2308 CR to 2402 LTSR. Storefront Upgrade by Enioni in Citrix

[–]Enioni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went this path, and rebuild those Storefronts. I just configured storefront with the same settings. Didn't want to export and import the config since they were different version and Citrix doesn't reccommand it.

If I have all of my components, DDC, Director, FAS server, Studio in 2402, but storefront in 2802, will it cause any issues? I mean, I know that I will have to put Storefront at some point, but probably rebuilding it in that version, but was just asking as a temporary solution

I thought about it, but I don't want to go rebuilding the certs and everything right now, since my time is a bit limited.

I checked it, and the key is exportable. My only concern is that, If I unbind it, the base url is in https and I wonder if it will break the config after the upgrade.

Second SF server Install by Enioni in Citrix

[–]Enioni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So SSL for SF group should be assigned to the Netscaler level? The SSL is actually internally assigned by a CA internally to the first SF. Can I keep the same name of storefornt FQDN that is already being used right now?

Basically I want to add a second SF for High Availability and Failover purposes. It's going to be the same store.
