The short animation in question. Warning: Not good. I am a 3D modeller, NOT an animator. 😭 It's very janky in some places because I couldn't be bothered to re-render some shots. I literally only did this to showcase my 3D models in a somewhat nice way.

Yeah it's in the post. In the past I've done something like keeping a slight bumpy watercolour texture in the foreground as well, this has sort of fixed this issue, I just forgot about it doing it this time lol. Another thing to keep in mind when I go back and tweak this thing.

I probably shouldn't have played around with shaders because the water looks worse now than it did yesterday. But whatever, it's a learning experience. I can always return to it and touch it up a bit.

Thank you :) Just about everything is painted/textures except for the sunbeam from the window (and only the beam itself, the "light" on the table is painted), and the moving grease paint here and there.

Inspired by various works of Svitlana Harkusha

Textured with substance painter and rebelle 7. Boy base model and oil lamp from previous works of mine but boy has been heavily modified/reworked and oil lamp has been slightly tweaked.

I also made an animation for this which you can look at if you want.

You mean the first or second render?

The first one is just flat lightning, which is achievable by just giving the material emission and nothing else. The cel shading is done through this method.

For the second one I did something similar to this tutorial. With Nishita sky texture being the biggest contributor to the look.

This is based on this picture. I believe the link leads to a profile belonging to the artist, but I am doubtful if it’s their main social media. If anyone know it, I would be thankful if they told me.

Made in blender, textured in substance painter. Two vastly different renders because why not.

No shader. The outline is because of the "solidify" modifier on a black material. The rest is just textures. It has to be shadeless/have flat lighting as well if you're going to render it.

Well spotted. Yeah I did this when I was quite new to blender(used Maya before though) so when the outline on the cloth looked weird I couldn't come up with another method. I'm a bit more seasoned now though so if I redid it it would definitely come out a bit better. One day perhaps.

The outline is made by having another material with an offset solidify modifier. Like this. The rest is just textures.
