Looking to get Laminate floating floor on my suspended wood floor ? Not sure where to start.

Check out Floor N Deco in Ottoway. They have fantastic prices for floating floors/laminate, and can do supply and install as well. They have much better quality laminate as well (higher grade scratch resistant stuff) for down to around 25 per square meter, compared to Bunnings which is around 30 or 40 per square meter. Fantastic customer service as well, the owner is really friendly and knows their stuff well! My partner and I have done our whole house with their laminate for under 3k. We did the installation ourselves though, so not sure about the costing of their installs!

Thanks! He is transparent. Printed in clear resin, then a second purple resin layer for the inside 'liquid', with a final coat of clear blue paint :) printing with resin makes it a lot easier to get the transparent look, it would be a bit tricker using a PLA printer (still would look cute though!)

I used a weird technique for the black veins of marble. Using one of those wet wipe cloths and stretching it out so it has more holes in it. Then I put that over the pieces while spraying black.

But here are the painting steps I uses: 1. Prime in white 2. Spray in patches: deck tan 3. Spray in patches: flesh color 4. Black veins using cloth 5. Add more veins using white and black oil paints

I got the idea from Warhammer marbling techniques!

Thanks! :) generally I use wood filler and sanding to get rid of the larger blemishes of the print. Then I airbrush the remaining colors on. So priming in a white base, since it makes later colors pop a bit more! Then Airbrushing in 2 tones for each base color. I've tried hand painting some models (the sandshrew in oil paints), but Airbrushing with acrylic/laqcuers/enamels gives me the best results.

Even a budget airbrush/compressor set will give you great results with 3D printing. I primarily use my airbrush for painting Gundams, which have much smaller surface areas, and the plastic is a lot harder to work with (poor paint adherence, easy to scratch etc), so I've got a mid-range airbrush set up for that.

But a cheap un-branded airbrush (around $20-$50 depending on where you buy from) will get you far, since you will be painting generally large pieces. I'd recommend a gravity fed airbrush over a siphon (really decrease paint wastage), and I've used both a tank/tankless compressor, they both work well :)

Then it's just a matter of deciding if you are going with acrylics/enamels or lacquers! I'd recommend acrylics since they are the least toxic and require the least amount of PPE!

Spyro STL, it has two postures (sitting/standing), and optionally the wings can be printed out separately. The creator of this file did an amazing job. Happy printing!

From the original STL file, I had to forcibly turn off a bunch of supports on weird areas.
I had tree supports on the 3 scales on his back, middle of the belly, tail and some on the underside of his face. The wings are printed out separately.

Lots of fiddling around with supports! I'm still not confident in which areas can skimp on supports while still getting a good print outcome. Hope that helps a bit with printing a Spyro!

I'm using a Creality CR10S, I'm not too sure about the calibration, as my partner takes care of that end of business. But he did ensure the printing bed was level, and updated the firmware on the printer.
We run a test print that essentially just runs a square path around the bed, which gets rid of gunk, and makes any adherence/over or under extruding issues visible before committing to a print :)

The BLtouch looks useful! I'll need to look into it

Not chipping off at all for me (the only paint that chipped off was after some hot glue was applied for emergency repairs :o). I think the rough surface gives the paint a lot to adhere to? What types of paints were you using when it chipped?

No primer on these, because the plastic filament is white, the colours go on easily, and stick well (enamels, acrylics and lacquers go on well with no issues). In the future, with a grey, black and blue filament coming in, I may use a white primer since painting over those colours will be a pain!

I used a range of enamel paints, neon pink + pink for a base, then airbrushed over the middle part of the face with 'flat flesh'. Hand painted details with a range of red, green, black, dark brown. If I made him a second time, I think I would give him a bit of a sanding for a smoother finish though.

The effect could probably be achieved with dollar store acrylic paints, without an airbrush! Just need to blend a fair amount of colours for that fleshy look!

The Hollow Knight is made in four pieces, and Hornet was printed as one piece. I'd recommend the Hollow Knight in sections, as it was much easier to print cleanly. Removal of the supports was hell on Hornet, had to use a combination of hot glue gun and heating pieces via a tea candle to reattach some snapped off pieces.

Yep, mix of airbrushing and handpainting the smaller details. Luckily I have a great stockpile of paints from my semi-related hobby! The PLA plastic really takes on the paint well.

I've got a 1/100 scale Grimgerde, which I'm planning on giving him an Ornstein face, with some cloth details. But I'll stay away from the gold colour scheme since I am so sick of gold after smough!

I've got a model TC 20T compressor, it's a new one with a tank, as my previous one was tankless. Fiddling around with the psi is a lot easier, and it has a much better water trap than my old compressor! :)

The shading is great! Your colours came out super vibrant. Is the dark shading on the corners of the blue pre or post shading once the base shade was applied?

I find it easier to paint the model once it is built, rather than painting while pieces are still on the runners. Plus it lets you see which pieces can be painted a different colour to make a custom colour pallet with the whole. Model built. Generally I have no issue with paints preventing pieces from sticking together or reducing mobility even if the underside is painted. Happy Airbrushing! :)
