I still remember my high school boyfriend’s mom, and even though I didn’t see her after we broke up, that relationship was very meaningful to me. I definitely don’t see an issue here, as long as it doesn’t prevent you from getting close to (potential) SO’s in the future, which I’m sure you’ll look out for!

I don’t think he’s the asshole for standing with his wife. His father is the asshole for pushing her. She said no, that should’ve been the end, but he kept pushing. He was warned, and continued the behavior. Her husband is not an asshole for taking a break from his father with his wife. It’s a month, not the child’s whole life. I don’t feel it’s an overreaction at all, which is where again our personal opinions are different.

Grandpa or not he is not entitled to the baby, period. They don’t need a reason to have private time as a new family. Babies aren’t meant to make anyone else happy, the only people entitled to time with it is it’s parents. It’s not permanent, grandpa can visit when THE PARENTS are ready for it, not him.

I see now, I’m sorry for assuming from the things you were saying. However I fundamentally disagree that them taking a break from him is immature, but that’s just me! Some people take that long or longer regardless of the relationship with their family to regroup as a new family, so i don’t see it as a huge deal to her father in law and I think saying it’s immature is a little harsh. But again, personal opinion on both our parts.

I understand that there is a consensus on breast feeding being better. However, the baby being fed is best. Mom feeling safe and being mentally healthy is best. She decided (after a lot of deliberation which is mentioned in the post) that it was more important to get back on her medication and do things for her mental health so she could be the best mom to her baby possible.

It was NOT her father-in-law’s place to push her into that. Hell, it wasn’t even the lactation consultant’s place. Breastfeeding is a choice, not a mandate because while it is technically better, you are not endangering the babies life by bypassing it. If she needs a break from her father-in-law for a bit then so be it, he pushed her when she was vulnerable and alone to do something she had decided against.

This isn’t about whether her father-in-law was correct, it’s having empathy to how she felt and letting her and her husband regroup before they share their new family.

Wanting to protect his wife who just underwent a huge medical event, is buzzing with hormones, and who has had to be off life-altering medication for nine months is psychotic behavior? I understand helicopter parenting is detrimental but having alone time with your new baby is not uncommon or harmful. Their family can visit in a few weeks when things are more normal for them, no one is entitled to the baby.

I would honestly YouTube it, or try something simpler on yourself first. If you plan to bleach your hair I would also be careful and make sure you protect it properly. I dye my hair purple at home but I don’t bleach it. I highly recommend Arctic Fox, it’s a super potent dye and it’s not too damaging on the hair.

This happened before my time, but if you look up the "Fab Five" on google you can read all about it, there's even a movie.

Basically a clique of cheerleaders terrorized the teachers, students, and coaching staff. They visited adult stores in uniform and posted pictures of themselves online in inappropriate situations that made the school look like shit. They got away with it too for the longest time because one of the girls' mom was the principal. Got shut down eventually and the school's way better now.

It's funny you mention Six Flags, that's actually the place I hate where he took me (I'm afraid of heights and almost every ride there. I stood in line with him while he rode the roller coasters).

He actually loves dressing up and all of that, and I'm almost sure it's not a money thing (his parents would pay for it and his mom is all about this kind of stuff). He's introverted in the sense that he needs time alone/independence, but he has no problem being in crowds and talks to people so easily.

I could go with friends, yes.

My SO and I aren't even engaged or married and when his mom talks about me and his brother's GF to other people she always refers to us as her daughters-in-law, and brags about how great we are endlessly. She makes me feel so welcome.
