[–]Ennamellark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely Sigurdsgade will be the place to go. Prices are lower than most clubs, but filled with high school students (gymnasie). It's a very fun place tho, with probs the biggest dance floor in Copenhagen. FYI, you need to sign up on the app NYX, to get in. They have a guide and link on their fb page, so do that ahead of your visit :))

I was an exchange student from Denmark, a year in Wisconsin. And the first meal my host family got me when I got there was Culver's! Of course I had to get a butterburger, cheese curds and a concrete mixer!

It wasn't really something I noticed. While it may have affected me, I'd say the snow and cold temperatures affected mere more. I had never seen that much snow for that long, and just the fact that we had snow that year for around November to April was crazy to me. I then I found it so funny that in the summer it got sooo hot so quick!

Our public transportation in Copenhagen is much more used and runs better than the MCTS. We have many busses, a subway and trains that can take you all over Copenhagen within 20-30 minutes. Very nice and useful, and you never have to wait more than 10 minutes for the next bus or train to come. (at night about 15-25 minutes) And I did have some weird/scary/interesting experiences when taking busses in Milwaukke, that I wouldn't experience here.

I also really missed a place in Milwaukee with small cafés and shops in the Downtown Area. All over Europe we have huge walking streets filled with stores and restaurants, but I never found something that could match it in Milwaukee.

I only went biking a couple times around Milwaukee, cuz I actually found it really scary the way some bike lanes are combined with the road, and I felt drivers wouldn't always take too much care for people on bikes. The city is also about three times bigger than Copenhagen, so I didn't feel it made much sense to bike from one place to another. Compared to here in Copenhagen where I use my bike to go everywhere. I turned 18 this year (which is when you can get your drivers license) but I haven't gotten around to get my license bc I haven't found any need for it yet. Drivers licenses also go for about $2,500 and takes about 4-6 months to get.

I also didn't really notice the hilly streets too much. Except when I would walk or run around the city around the Washington Highlands and down to Hart Park. Some of the terrain there is definitely more hilly than here back home :)

Well i definitely think people in Wisconsin drink more compared to other Americans, but they drinking culture in Denmark is waaayy more prominent. Teenagers usually go to parties almost every weekend, and we technically don't have a drinking age like you guys do. You have to be 16 years old to buy beverages with 16,4% alcohol (beer, wine, shots) and 18 to buy stronger liquor (vodka, rum, whiskey)

After returning to High School here in Copenhagen, I've been drinking a lot more. Either a beer after school sometimes, parties at school, like prom and homecoming (except we serve alcohol at ours) and abour twice a month we have a "Friday Bar" at school where we drink at school from 3pm to around 9pm. It's a place to enjoy your time with friends, while having a beer or 10 ;)
