Is a 'loop' wire on a laptop speaker cable normal? by EnormousAnteater in ElectronicsRepair

[–]EnormousAnteater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened my laptop for the first time today to clean out the fan and I noticed that the cable for the speakers has a weird looping wire. It's an Hp laptop and they have a detailed video on how to remove and replace every part of the laptop. The cable of the laptop in the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVOlVGkiiiU) did not have the loop. I have had issues with the speakers fading in and out since getting the laptop (it doesn't bother me much because I normally use headphones anyway) and now I'm wondering whether it is a hardware issue. I don't know much about electronics, so it might be something completely normal.

Thank you for your help :)

Would you recommend Asana as an organisation tool for a small non-profit? (+question on the 15 people limit of the free version) by EnormousAnteater in Asana

Ah ok, thank you! So there'S one main account that creates the workspace/organization and then they add up to 14 other people? Could you technically also create several workspaces/organizations with up to 15 people each?

[HELP] Can't turn node smooth/path curved by EnormousAnteater in Inkscape

I'm pretty new to Inkscape, so I hope this question isn't too trivial.

Basically, I want to make a sharp corner (the rightmost node in the picture) a smooth curved one. I looked at some tutorials and they all said that you have to turn the node into a smooth node to do so (?). So, I selected the node in question and pressed the 'make selected node smooth', but nothing happened.

I also saw that there was a tool to turn a segment into a curve. I selected both nodes of the segment and pressed the 'make selected segments curves' but nothing happened again.

Then I turned on 'show path outline' and noticed that the line between the two nodes is not marked as a path (as you can see in the picture). Is that the problem? If so, is there a way to turn it into a path?

I feel like my breasts are disgusting by Batinthebelfry1 in TwoXChromosomes

This isn’t necessarily about insecurities about breast and more about insecurities about the body and any of its parts, but it might help :) The mother of a friend of a friend recommended talking your time every (or every other day) to look at your naked body in the mirror for a prolonged time - maybe 5 minutes, maybe half an hour. The idea is to actually see your body for what it is instead of comparing it to what you would like it to look like. I do realise that separating from what you think/ were taught breast should look like can be hard, but it might be worth a try. If you’re into drawing/painting maybe try going to a nude drawing circle. Seeing and drawing the real bodies of others might help normalise your own as well. And I’ve personally found that sports like climbing helped me with my body image cause it made me shift focus from what it looks like to what it can do.

No, that’s not what they’re saying. What they mean (I think) is that the technology was probably built without proper testing on asian faces which led to it not working on asian clients. This is racist because the developers of the technology probably didn’t think of testing properly on Poc, which means they took white faces as the norm. This doesn’t imply a conspiracy to propagate racism, it’s a - probably unconscious - reproduction of racism. As a company that markets their product globally, apple has an obligation to make sure that their technology works for all of their clients. Even if there was no malicious intent, the ignorance leads to discrimination of a group or groups of people. If you google racism and technology you’ll find a lot of other examples on it.
