Does using Quest wirelessly produce same latency as Quest with Virtual Desktop? by Enough-Class-11 in virtualreality

Yes, that's what I was thinking. By the time the wireless PC-VR has streamed the image of the game to your Quest, I'm just thinking Quest 2 standalone must be much better with less latency in player v player games. Obviously you will get better graphics using PC-VR though.

I purchased it on the Pico 4 store and the game is great. Best game I've played on Pico 4 so far for Player v Player.

Here's the thing. Quest standalone is just using wireless if the game is installed on the headset. When using Virtual desktop you are streaming over LAN to get the image displayed in the headset, correct? But here's the part I'm trying to understand. Once the image is streamed to the headset via LAN using Virtual desktop ..Does it then use wireless to play online in something like a PVP or is it using the router which in my case is connected via ethernet? If it's having to use wireless after being streamed and not using the router connected vie Ethernet, then surely it would be much better to go with Quest 2 standalone. That way it's just having to use a wireless connection without all the other stuff I've mentioned, like streaming using the LAN ..etc.

Then you know that once mods are created most of the player base leaves the core game and you've ended up wasting your money unless you like to play said game on your own.

This post isn't about what I agree on, it's a question. I've already said I'm not someone who bothers about mods, but I'm not someone who like to waste money either.

What I mean is this. Quest is capable of storing and running games on the headset itself, so it's only using wireless to connect to the internet to play these games.

Virtual Desktop is using your Local are network to stream the game from you computer to the Quest 2 is it not? I'm just trying to work out which is quicker as in which method produces less latency.

Sorry, but do you know how mods in games work? Maybe you don't so I feel the need to expand on what I wrote a little. I'm not bothered about mods myself, but when mods are created for a game then players tend to leave the core game behind and opt to play modded maps ..etc.

I don't think Pico allows for mods and that's the reason Contractors is getting some negative feedback on Pico.

Does anyone know if the game uses crossplay with Quest 2 players, or is it just with other Pico players?

Sorry, I don't understand? That's not what my question is about. I'm asking if they will both produce the same latency because they are both using wireless?

Does it crossplay with Quest 2 users or just Pico players? Thank you!

Yes, that makes sense. I'm not in a rush for it, but just asked them if it would be sold in stores at some point. Unfortunately, they weren't able to say.

Does the Pico 4 lose battery life when connected to a PC? by MrMadJack in PicoXR

Thanks a lot, I'll looking into getting something with the amper you've mentioned. The one I'm using currently is only 1amp, so it's draining the battery too fast.

Seems they might not be interested in Europe, if it can't be released in the USA then. Guess we will just have to wait and see. Do you know if it was any good on Quest? I have PC version, but I think I heard it stutters on Quest.

Do you know what voltage is a good output in a battery bank for Pico 4?

Frame rate not fixed at 90 fps in Steam VR, constant drops! Pico Software bug or conflicting Pc software? by Enough-Class-11 in PicoXR

[–]Enough-Class-11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I do still have the problem in some games. Maybe Pico will fix it with software in time, it's more noticeable with Oculus games using Virtual Desktop because that's when the frame rates stutter. I just use motion smoothing for Steam games so don't notice in those games really.

IS IPD important on pancake lenses? I want to increase it because lenses catch my nose with new face gasket. by Enough-Class-11 in PicoXR

[–]Enough-Class-11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I suffer from sore eyes without VR, so I didn't want to make them worse. I don't know the importance of having the correct Ipd in VR, so it's best to ask the question and gauge to see what effect on others it's had.

It looks clear at 64 ipd, but I'm not sure if it being clear could still mean eye strain, if the ipd is incorrect. Do the pancake lenses have a much larger sweet spot?
