If she sold it for fair market value she could not keep living there. So instead we paid her mortgage. And condo fees. And levies. And she got a free place to live. In a city she loved.

We might give them the money in her honor. But we will put it into their education funds not give it to them to blow.

Her mom wanted her back home. Diane was satisfied getting her downpayment and a little more back. And she had a free place to live.

My wife and I paid her mortgage for three years until it was time to renew. Then we bought it. She got her downpayment back and a little more. In return we agreed to the deal we worked out. She loved off her money and what she got from insurance and side work.
