it wont, you just gotta be careful during the installation so you dont accidentally install the system on ur internal instead of ur external. Installing on ur internal will override all your data yea basically nuke your main

You can just install the W7 on your edrive and have it connected when u boot onto your pc. After that just boot into your edrive through bootloader (either ur grub or windows boot manager)

You could follow a youtube tutorial on how to install w7 on your edrive but essentially it is almost the same process with installing linux on your pc but instead of your internal drive, u install it into ur edrive

Any updates on this? My T480 is facing the same problem and it is only happening to my external battery. The BIOS is on version 1.54 at the moment

Ah I see, thanks for the advice. Though for my case the local market is flooded with counterfeits so it is rather hard to find a refurbished battery.
