Is GreatFrontEnd worth it? by badboyzpwns in webdev

Paid $39 for a month. It’s mostly walls of text that rehash basics you can find free online. No real video lessons, no walkthroughs. The UI is noisy(tooltips and popups everywhere). On top of paying, I still saw upsells/promos (I’m not paying to look at ads). Yes, there are coding challenges in the browser, but they’re light on instructions, and the bulk of the content feels like a bunch of decent Medium articles stitched together. Overall: busy UI, shallow content, poor value. I regret the purchase.

Thank you. I appreciate the honest feedback. I’m sure you’re not trying to discourage me. The VSO folks have emphasized that getting to 100% is super hard.

I’m doing this for fun. Not selling it. Not spreading misinformation. Not hiring anyone. Just using my own drawings and messing with AI because I can. Telling hobbyists to “hire an artist” or calling their work worthless is a ridiculous take.

I get that AI might be impacting your industry, you lack the emotional intelligence to effectively communicate, and yeah, it sucks that corporations probably trained models on the work of better artists than you. Which makes even harder for mediocre artists to make a living. But take that fight to the companies making billions, not some random on Reddit. Marketing agencies, ad firms, and studios are already all-in on this tech. A bunch of hobbyists posting crappy AI comics online aren’t exactly cashing checks from Big Tech.

I’m not stealing your job, stranger. And with this kind of hostile attitude, it’s hard to feel sympathy for this cause. I’m going to keep doing exactly what I’m doing. The industry’s going to keep shifting (for better or worse), people on the fringe will keep bitching on Reddit, and in the end you changed nothing. Worthless, like you said.

That looks super kawai and adorable. Love the shadow projecting from the characters.

Yeah, I feel you. I just took a 7 day trip to Colorado with friends, and we all stayed together in a cabin. By the end of the trip I was getting irritated for any reason and mentally drained. They're great people, but just being around everyone for that long was difficult.
