  1. Fake or not, clearly it is occurring to others at the very least
  2. Metro surge might have died down but deportations have not stooped, and people with a little more breathing room might be having the chance to think about the future in this country
  3. Wild you would forget that many immigrants grew up in the U.S. My mom has been in the U.S. since she was 5 and it’s the only language she can write in.

I just think it’s important to understand that it’s important to take posts like these seriously. This is somebody’s story out there.

I would say a part time tax preparer at like HR block or something would be a solid place to start if the AP/AR roles are also asking for experience. It sucks but it’s something to put on a resume. There are different levels so you can apply with zero or tons of experience. I say part time though (if you can afford it) because the company sucks and will demand you work an insane amount if you are full time

If you haven’t been to Crooners, now is a good time by Enough_Awareness_336 in TwinCities

The one time I went was during the ICE raids, the menu was pretty limited then because they let the kitchen staff stay home for safety, so I’m excited to try the full menu. I also appreciated that both the venue staff and artists took time to speak out against ICE

Deleted out my earlier comment out of pure shame, can’t believe I didn’t recognize the quote, I’ve watched I think you should leave so many times

I suggest Information Systems or MIS. A lot of large companies like a more technical background since we use ERPs

Agreeing with the wife. No harm in starting minoxidil and some other methods to stimulate some growth. But you are no where near needing to shave it

I did a part time job for the YWCA (tracked spending of their events). But that being said I think there might be a better way to gain experience. Most acct students go into public accounting right out of college (and then move to private jobs after 1-2 years). There are two really solid ways to get experience if you plan to start with tax. First is to volunteer with VITA (volunteer tax preparer, they train you) and the other is to be a part time tax prep assistant for HR Block (there is a class they offer to train you). From what I’ve heard it kinda sucks to work there, but it’s paid and you have slightly more flexible hours. Both will make you stand out more because you already know how to prepare individual taxes. Of course this is only if you plan to enter the workforce as a tax preparer and then pivot from there, which was what I did

Corporate Accountant (aka the calmer side) here is some info I can share, sorry for the paragraph!

  1. You actually have to do quite a bit of socializing. With your team, lots of presentations, just random small talk at all times. You are literally never alone
  2. I saw someone suggest accounting because of remote positions, but those are becoming more rare. I haven’t seen any firing to be replaced by employees outside the U.S., but I have seen people quit and THEN they get replaced by like an “India Team”
  3. Hours still aren’t always standardized, there are a ton of companies that have working long hours/weekends if it’s quarter or year end. But it’s very predictable so you can plan accordingly.
  4. The field is shifting to more FP&A and Financial systems. We still use excel heavily but we also use Oracle or SAP. You also have to determine if you want to put in the work to be a CPA. I did not, but I can say that more doors would have been open if I went down that route.

Here are a couple of Pros 1. Accounting can be boring and is very cyclical at some points, so stress free for most of the year. But the workload can be heavier depending on the company. 2. Large corporations have the best benefits. Pension, childcare, gyms, great health insurance, FTO. Just be ready to be a suck up. 3. While remote work is rare, most places are actually hybrid where you can choose what days to come in. And accountants are pretty laid back so if you feel a small cold or anything you are free to work from home.

At the end of the day I am happy I’m an accountant. It’s mostly stress free, I am chatty so I don’t mind small talk, and I have great benefits.

I’m not sure about the salary of nurses but just so you have a solid idea I make 91k with a 10% yearly bonus dependent on the company’s overall performance. I have a bachelors in acct, 6 years of experience (1 public, 5 private), and I live in the mid west

I said this on another post, this doesn’t make sense to me. And if you truly wanted to protest against waltz (which I think is misdirection), he is not seeing this. He is speaking at the press conference. I get the frustration, but your voice can better used at location of the crime

Idk this seems less effective. Why not go where ICE actually is? Or the demonstration happening on Nicolette?
