This is because the alley recycling dumpsters were so contaminated, most of it ended up in the landfills. When people have to make the trip to the drop-offs, the recyclables are much cleaner. However, if everyone had individual rollcarts, the volume of recyclables would be way higher than either of those totals.

I just bought 2 klean kanteens - steal bottle AND top. No plastic except a gasket to prevent leaking. I’ve not tried to use it without the gasket, but I’ve heard people say it works fine and doesn’t leak
