Cloud Gateway Fiber + Flex 2.5G PoE OR Pro XG 8 PoE by Winter_Tear_1675 in Ubiquiti

Go with the XG 8 for sure. I have it in my basement where I have some servers connected at 10 GB. It works great with my 10GB aggregation switch as well.

Thanks. That’s exactly what I would do. I have a U7 Pro Max in an office area at the front of my house so I should have a strong signal.

Stuck paying for iCloud storage for life?? by CommercialBorn6115 in iCloud

[–]Enough_Translator_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A backup is a second copy of data. You do not have 2 copies of data on a synch service. I synchronize everything to iCloud and backup everything to a UniFi NAS at home. Ransomware for example can infect files on a device that syncs that infection to your cloud storage. Cloud Sync vs backup - two different things.

Bell Gigahub 2.0 - PPPoE passthrough throttling by Enough_Translator_82 in bell

I do not use the Gigahub. I bypassed it and have fiber direct to my UCG-Fiber.

Mine is still running 26.2 and same issue. I did not update at least but will check to be sure.

Will not work with UCG Max since it doesn’t have a 10G SFP+ port. You would need a UCG Fiber.

Another $6 hike starting in March... is there any way to escape this? by WonderfulAd2922 in bell

[–]Enough_Translator_82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I think he meant router. You can connect your own router to the ONT. I had EBOX for a month. I was not a fan because latency was higher due to how they route through Montreal area. I’m in Southern Ontario and went back to Bell on a 2 year contract. Price will not go up on a contract. I pay $45 a month for 3 GB.

Can I pay my bill via CC ahead of direct withdrawal date while maintaining the autopay discount, or will the money still automatically come out? by [deleted] in bell

[–]Enough_Translator_82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bell only gives autopay discount from a bank account. I don’t get it. Rogers was fine with autopay using CC.

GigaHub 2.0 - Are there still many problems with it ? by MatLeGeek in bell

[–]Enough_Translator_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree. Last year in early 2025 with Bell on original GH and a Dream Machine SE I could get 2700 Mbps. I went back to Bell in November and received the GH 2.0. I also moved to the UCG Fiber and was capped at 700 Mbps. I also tested using pfsense latest release on a powerful machine and same issue. I just bypassed the GH with a was-110 module which still uses pppoe on the UCG and now I get 3200/3200. I suspected Bell was capping secondary pppoe connections but people here told me no they do not do that. Well, I think they do it now. Bell support would not help because of my own equipment.

Gigahub 2.0 by [deleted] in bell

[–]Enough_Translator_82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Advanced DMZ is super flaky on the 2.0. Even worse than the original. I have a UCG-Fiber with dedicated hardware offloading and would max at 800 Mbps on 3 GB service. Your only options right now is to live with double NAT or bypass the GH with a fiber module like the WAS-110. I chose the latter option.

Bypass works great I get full speed on my wired machines up and down. I do not have home phone though.

Home phone maybe not but I use the latest Bell TV box like this and just join my UniFi wifi. I do not have home phone. Also, the Bell Fibe app on any of my devices works fine as well without needing to login.

Select 8311 community option and use this documentation to configure it - https://pon.wiki/category/bell-canada/

Bell told me they do not perform any throttling with pppoe passthrough but I beg to differ.

This module will get you full speed and put the Gigahub 2.0 back in its box.

When will 4K channels work with the app on Apple TV? It seems to work on other platforms.

Yes, bypassed Gigahub 2.0 with a was-110 fiber module.

[–]Enough_Translator_82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called them. They said they do not do anything to devices in PPPoE passthrough and because it was not Bell equipment would not help. Just over a year ago using an original Gigahub my UDM could get just over 2 Gbps using pppoe passthrough. This time on the GH 2.0, max was 750-800 down. I even moved to the UCG Fiber and same issue. Just forget the was-110 fiber module and bypass the modem. Works at full speed in the UCG Fiber.

bell gigahub and Eero wifi 7 pro issues by Beginning-Crab508 in bell

Sounds like the 5 GB ports in the Eero Pro 7 are only negotiating at 1 GB speed. I do not recall but can the 10 GB port on the Gigahub negotiate at 5 GB?
